Daisy, a 4 year old Dogo Argentino, and her handler Melissa Parker visited North Side Primary School on Friday afternoon as part of the schools “service learning projects” scheduled throughout the year to teach the students about their community. The event was used to introduce and educate the students on rescue dogs and emphasizing the impact the responding police, fireman, and other rescue dogs can have in certain events. Points scored in football games is usually done by the offensive side of the ball. For fans who love the up-tempo offense, quick scores, and plenty of scrimmage yards, Friday night’s game vs. Hopewell would have been an eyesore of drives that just didn’t finish. Riverside Panthers used defense and a steady ground attack to get its first win of the young season Friday night at Laurel. The Panthers were aided by its defense forcing two turnovers, one a pick-6 interception, to stymie the Laurel offense in its 24-7 victory. Kyle Marweg recovered a fumble while Lance Fisher collected an interception and returned it for a touchdown for Riverside. LeMarcus Cleckley and Austin Dambach cashed in on a 10-yard and 15-yard touchdown runs respectively to spark the Panther offense. Man Calls Police for Relationship Advice According to the police report, on Sept. 2, police were called to scene because a husband and wife were having a disagreement. The man told the responding officer that the disagreement started because his wife was talking to other guys on Facebook. The officer thoughtfully listened to both sides of the story and advised the couple to handle their relationship like adults, especially in front of their children. History comes alive at the 24th Annual Heritage Festival at McConnells Mill State Park on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Festival, sponsored by the Portersville-Prospect Rotary, celebrates the operational time period of the historical gristmill—from 1852 to 1928. David Rowbotham, 40, of Wampum is facing charges of impersonating a public servant, criminal coercion, harassment by communication and a wiretap violation after he called a woman and pretended to be a state trooper. He is accused of threatening her and he telling her she had a burglary warrant for her arrest. Rowbotham recorded the calls without permission from the victim. According to the report, the victim and defendant were hardly acquaintances and the victim was likely targeted due to being loosely linked in a domestic dispute.
