37th Annual Lawrence County Marching Band Festival

Lincoln High School will be hosting the 37th annual Lawrence County Marching Band Festival on Wednesday September 21 at 7p.m., doors open at 5:30p.m. The following school bands will be participating in the event: Lincoln, Shenango, Mohawk, Union, Neshannock, Laurel, Wilmington, New Castle, and Westminster College; each band will be performing samples of their half time shows. Lincoln High School Blue Band Boosters will be selling concessions and having a bake sale. You can send candy grams for $3.00 or cookie grams for $2.00 to your favorite band member. Tickets can be purchased for $3.00 at the door (Helling Stadium)….

The 15th Annual Story Telling Festival

The 15th annual Story Telling Festival, brought to you by Ellwood City Public Library and supporting sponsors, will be hosted in Ewing Park on September 17 from 4p.m. to 7:30p.m. The storytelling stage will feature talented performances from Jocelyn Dabney, Mike Kennelly, Bill Pate, Michael Perry and Joanna Demarest. Performances will be followed by 15 minute intermissions, a perfect time to enjoy free activities like horse drawn trolley rides, face painting, strolling minstrels and balloon art. Boy Claims His Family Treats Him like “Harry Potter” According to the police report dated September 10, a juvenile came to the police department to report that he feels that he is being treated unfairly at home; he furthered his statement saying he is adopted, his parents don’t talk to him unless they need something, he’s forced to do chores, and he’s overall treated like “Harry Potter”. Man Steals An Estimated 2,000 Kilowatt Hours of Electric

On September 6, officers and the electric company were investigating a residential meter in Ellwood that had been tapped into. Bob Villella gave the following information about the electric companies investigation, “the Ellwood City Borough Electric crew was reviewing the TIP Report which is generated from the Borough Utility Software. The TIP report identifies that a meter was pulled and is inactive and if there is activity then it identifies new usage compared to the period when it was pulled. Hard to Recycle Item Event

On Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds you can take appliances, batteries, fluorescent lights, shoes, and tires to be recycled. Household hazardous waste and electronics can also be recycled but registration for these items is required. To register call ECS&R at 866-815-0016. Breaking News: Accident on 6th Street

Updated: 9/15/16 Officers, firefighters, and paramedics crowded the intersection of 6th and Crescent after receiving reports of a car accident. At approx 1:20 p.m. there was an accident involving a GMC truck and a Chevrolet car. According to the accident report, the driver of the Chevrolet didn’t see the other vehicle driving south on 6th before pulling out at the stop sign at the intersection of Crescent and 6th, striking the GMC and causing it to do a 180 degree spin. There was considerable front end damage to the Chevy and the GMC had some visible damage on the side….


2016 Spring Cleanup Program

The spring clean up program will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The drop off will be at 1200 Factory Avenue. Procedure: Residents who wish to dispose of their items are to provide our Utility Billing Office with a copy of their electric bill or driver’s license for identification (or an authorized Government ID for non-drivers).  The individual will then be given a numbered tag for $5.00 entitling the recipient to drop off up to one (1) pickup-sized truck/car load at the site.  The tag will be collected at the site located inside the…
