Sgt. Joshua Rennels

My husband, Sgt. Joshua Rennels has been deployed to Iraq for a little over a year now. He is serving his 2nd tour of duty with 1/15 IN out of Fort Benning, Georgia. I am happy to say my husband will be home mid-April from Iraq. The Yellow Ribbon Girls have sent him many boxes during this deployment and his first deployment as well. I know I can speak for my husband when I know he appreciates all the hard work and effort that they put into each and every single box they send out. He shares many of the items with his friends and soldiers that are serving with him. I know if he could he would personally thank each and every one of them.

SSG Hamrick, Robert

My Name is SSG Hamrick, Robert, I have a picture on your hero page already (With the Yellow Ribbon Girls). I have received over 15 boxes from them in the 11 months that I have been deployed. With in my unit I have became known as the man to go to in order to get Girl Scout Cookies (Which all came from YRGs). I have had the pleasure of meeting these sisters more then once. The last time I got to see them and their crew in action. It took me and my wife 30 minutes to walk 30 feet down a hall way. Every one of them stopped what they were doing to give me and my wife a hug. I have lived in Ellwood City now for 3 years. I am stationed with 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division out of Ft Lewis. Prior to this I was an Army Recruiter there in western PA. This is my second tour in which YRG has sent me care packages. I just want to thank them for seeing me thru another tour in the middle east and let them know that everything that they are doing is appreciated.

I have dedicated myself to the military for the past 11.5 years so my being here in the
desert was already in the plan so: therefore, there is no need to thank me. It is my
obligation and my duty to serve you and the people of the United States.

Thank you to all the supports of those of us that defend our Great Country!!!!!!!!

SSG RIDLEY, CARL D.

I would like to thank the Yellow Ribbon Girls and all the organizations
that contribute to ensuring that all soldiers are appreciated worldwide.
I'm currently deployed to Kuwait, less than two hundred miles from Iraq.
My wife and two children are in Seattle Washington, and they also would
like to share their gratitude for the love and concern that goes into
the care packages sent to me and other soldiers that are supporting the
WAR. I was born and raised in Rochester, and it has been some time
since I have been home, but once again, I want to send a special thanks
to all those parties involved in making my day with cookies, candy,
cards, soap, etc...Thanks much!!

Senior Airman Robert B Carter
(submitted by wife)

Hello All,

First off I want to say what you are doing is great.  My husband has been in Iraq with the Air Force since January 3rd, 2008.  He is sacrificing precious time with his two children and I to defend this great country.  He is a great father, a wonderful husband and most of all the best friend to every US citizen.  He puts his life on the line each and every day to keep all of us safe and never asks for anything in return.  These soldiers our not only our friends and neighbors they are our heroes, our protectors, and our providers.  These are the men and women who watch over us while we sleep.  They are the reason we are free.  Please include my husband in your thoughts and prayers.

My job is to help improve the economy, create jobs, develop existing or new businesses, and help the Iraqis increase their capacity to govern themselves. In this photo we are assessing a factory that once directly employed more than 1,100 Iraqis and as many as 10 times that in support of the factory. With our help, this factory will start the road to revitalization in a few weeks. As a deployed soldier I am overwhelmed by the hometown support we get, especially from the Yellow Ribbon Girls. Your moral support alone is enough, but the care packages demonstrate your love and support in a tangible way. You are the reason we are here. We all miss our families greatly, but with the support of our fellow citizens back home it helps take the edge off...even after three deployments.

Hi Ladies,
I have the best bed in Iraq. Everything on my bed minus the purple blanket is from your crew. I love every piece and reluctantly shared one of the blue pillowcases with my roomdog, SSG Stoner. yes, That really is his last name.

Thanks again, Steven

"Sometimes all that one needs is a second chance"

Hello from Iraq!!
I just wanted to let you know how cool it is getting support form OUR
home town of Ellwood City. I found out about the Yellow Ribbon Girls
(YRG) a while back through the Ledger online edition, though I never
expected anything from them since I have been away from Ellwood since
enlisting in the Navy nearly 16 years ago. Some of my family members
gave them my name and address over here, and the rest has been truly
amazing!
I get a box from the YRG about every 30-45 days, and they are normally
loaded with cookies, toiletries, socks, pillows cases, you name it, they
have probably considered putting it in a box. Next to the support that I
get from my family, the YRG have basically made me and my platoon feel
like their adopted kids. Even though no one else in my platoon is from
Ellwood, they too appreciate every thing that comes from my hometown.
There is something different about a box from "home". There is always
something special about it, a news paper, or a Steelers decoration,
there is always something to show that it came from Ellwood City.
There aren't enough words to say how much support from my home town
means to a bunch of us thousands of miles away. I guess the best thing
to say is just a simple thank you! Your ongoing support means more then
you will ever know.
