Four RBI Day for Magill Leads Wolverines Past Freedom Area

Wolverines defeated Freedom Area 16-1 on Tuesday thanks in part to Brooklyn Magill, who drove in four runners. Magill drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the fourth, and a single in the fifth. Wolverines collected 16 hits. Brooklyn Magill, Eisabela Miller, Zoe Kalantzis, Anna Ferrucci, and Reagan Mittler each collected multiple hits for Wolverines. Miller and Magill. PHOTOS: Riverside Captures Lead Early to Defeat Ellwood City Wolverines

Ellwood City Wolverines fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-1 loss to Riverside on Wednesday. Riverside scored on a single by Will Yasenka, a single by Anthony Tollari, and a fielder’s choice by Ricky Wass in the second inning. Riverside captured the lead in the second inning. In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL semifinal, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Homestead on Tuesday afternoon and once again came away with a hard fought victory. They are now 4-0 on the season and in sole possession of first place in the section with a record of 3-0.   Skyla Greco was dominant in the circle as she tossed a two hitter. Lady Wolverines Pass First Test, Defeat Avonworth 12-6 The Antelopes entered the game with a ton of offensive hype and an undefeated record. By game’s end, it was the visiting Lady Wolverines who carried the big sticks and remained undefeated on the young season. Ellwood City scored 2 runs in the top of the first and never looked back. Ellwood City Wolverines Loses Lead Early in Defeat Ellwood City Wolverines watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-1 loss to West Allegheny on Saturday. Ellwood City Wolverines stayed in it until the end, but Blackhawk pulled away late in a 12-1 victory on Wednesday. The game was tied at one with Blackhawk batting in the bottom of the fourth when Anthony Sebastian homered off of Tyler Good, driving in three runs. Wolverines Grab Lead in Seventh Inning for Victory Over Laurel

Ellwood City Wolverines took the lead late in the game in a 4-3 victory over Laurel on Friday. The game was tied at three with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the top of the seventh when Mitch Fraser singled off of Will Shaffer, driving in the go-ahead run to finally overtake a Laurel team that took an early lead in the first inning. Ellwood City Track Teams Fall To Beaver

The Ellwood City boys and girls track teams were defeated by Beaver Area Friday afternoon.  For the girls, a strong showing in the 100m was put together by the trio of Avory Elchison, Mia DeCaria, and Alena Battaglia who swept the event for the Wolverines.  DeCaria also took first place in the high jump and long jump to spur the Wolverines.
