This week the Ellwood City Boys Varsity team played a very close game against Rochester, defeating them by a mere two points. Rochester took the lead in the second quarter but Ellwood regained control in the third and fourth, ending the game with a close 64-62 victory. Riverside Players to be Presented with WPIAL Championship Rings

Tomorrow the players of Riverside’s 2017 varsity baseball team will be receiving their WPIAL Championship rings during the basketball match against Ellwood City. This is the fifth year for Riverside to win the WPIAL Championship. The team won their 2017 season 19-2, losing their last game to Central. Ellwood City Wolverines Defeat Rochester

Ellwood City defeated Rochester 64-62 on Wednesday after an evenly matched game that saw neither team lead by more than six points. After the game worked its way to another tie late in the fourth quarter, Ellwood City used back to back three-pointers from Anthony Roth and Broc Boariu to stretch out to their biggest lead in the contest at 56-50. Ellwood City’s pre-Christmas game against New Brighton, 12/22/2017 Despite Anthony Roth putting 26 points on the board, Lincoln lost to New Brighton 52-50. New Brighton (PA) locked in the win in the fourth quarter on a three pointer from Thomas Kirby. Despite a strong finish, with 16 points in the final quarter, Ellwood City Wolverines failed to secure the win. Ellwood City Wolverines Defeat Steel Valley

Munhall, PA– Lincoln won 55-42 against Steel Valley on Wednesday with the help of Anthony Roth, who scored 25 points, including 17 points in a decisive 3rd quarter for the Wolverines. Ellwood City Wolverines clinched their lead in the third quarter on a free throw from Roth. The Wolverines emerged victorious 78-62 against Freedom on Tuesday on the strength of Anthony Roth, who scored 31 points. Ellwood City had an early scoring surge, running out to an early double digit lead and claiming a 41-32 lead at the half. Lincoln solidified their lead in the final quarter, scoring 24 points. New Castle, PA – In spite of a solid performance from Anthony Roth with 17 points, Lincoln fell to Shenango 83-53. Leetsdale, PA – Wolverine guard Anthony Roth put 21 points on the scoreboard, but Lincoln fell to Quaker Valley 88-57 Tuesday Night in a relatively high-scoring affair.
