PennDOT Reduces Speed Limits in Lawrence County

Pittsburgh, PA – Due to the winter storm, PennDOT is temporarily reducing the speed limit on several roadways in Lawrence County. PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel but those who must head out will see speeds reduced to 45 mph on the following highways: Lawrence County Interstate 79 Interstate 376 On roadways with speed restrictions, commercial vehicles not affected by restrictions on these or other roadways must move to the right lane. Weekend Weather Advisory: Winter Storm Hunter

Ellwood City and surrounding areas are right in the path for winter storm, Hunter. A winter storm warning has been issued and is calling for between five and seven inches of now, coupled with potential sleet accumulation of a half inch and ice accumulation of one-tenth inch. According to meteorology reports, heavy rain will push into the region during the day today, possibly causing flooding, then changing into freezing rain sometime during rush hour this evening due to falling temperatures. WINTER WEATHER: Early Dismissal at Lincoln, Hartman Scheduled

On Friday, 01/12/18 the ECASD will be on an ACT 80 early dismissal due to pending freezing rain. Lincoln and Hartman will be dismissed @ 11:15 Perry and NS will be dismissed @ 12:00. All after school activities are canceled.


NOTICE: Water Pipe Leak, Blocked Parking Spaces Outside of Municipal Building

Four metered parking spaces next to the Municipal Building on 6th Street have been blocked off due to a water leak causing excess ice. The water company has identified the problem and will be working to fix it in the near future. Anyone who needs to go to the Municipal Building is urged to park at the Lawrence Avenue spaces until further notice.
