United Fund Well Short of Fundraising Goal

ELLWOOD CITY — The Ellwood City United Fund has entered its final month of fundraising, fundraising chairman Chip Campbell fears that this years goal may go unmet. The local United Fund organization has been collecting donations since October 2017 with the money raised benefiting and supporting the efforts of the eight (8) agencies that serve the Ellwood City area and beyond. Though donations are being accepted until January 31, 2018, as of now, the organization is looking to come up $9,224.00 short of its goal of $ 50,000.00. This year’s fund will benefit the following eight (8) agencies: People-in-need, LARK…

We know that it is at this time of year you are inundated with requests for donations. The magazine writers talked about giving of yourself and…

We usually receive donations and pledges that equal approximately 80% of what is needed. We would encourage everyone in the Ellwood City area to reflect on what they may share with others who are less fortunate than ourselves, so we can make a difference in their lives. The Ellwood City United Fund has been serving the community for…

Andrew Kindle, Treasurer of the Ellwood City United Fund, presented a check to Ricki Coccia, Director of Ellwood Family Center as the first disbursement of collected funds for the year 2017. “All agencies will receive 20% less because of the shortfall in the 2017 campaign,” Kindle said. The United Fund had discussed holding the money for a later disbursement date, but decided that it would cause a hardship on the agencies who really need the funds. Kevin Green, CEO/Ex Dir of City Rescue Mission, agreed and stated, “we thank you for the recent gift(allotment), it will be put to good…

United Fund Announces 20% Cut in Allotments to Service Agencies

The Ellwood City United Fund closed the 2017 campaign on January 31, and was $ 9358.00 short of its goal of $ 50,000.00. It was hoped that donations through the spring months would fill the gap created by the shortage of the campaign. This did not happen and it is now approaching the time for the first disbursement of funds to our service agencies. The first disbursement is planned for July 10, 2017. The agencies disbursement will be cut approximately 20% of the approved allotted funds. The United Fund agencies can expect to receive between $500.00 to $1000.00 less. Connie MacDonald,…
