Yesterday, House Bill 2030, which modifies the Ellwood City borough electric department, passed in a 106-89 vote. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10, New Beaver, will now pass to the state senate. The bill will prevent the borough from transferring funds from the electric department to the General Fund and includes additional provisions for consumer protection. The bill’s language limits its impact to boroughs providing electric to more than one county. According to the police report, two self-proclaimed bounty hunters were stopped in Ellwood on Monday night after an officer noticed their vehicle had a burnt out taillight and the bumper was scraping on the ground every time the vehicle hit a bump. When the officer pulled the vehicle over and asked the driver for the vehicles information, the driver and passenger both pulled out a badge on a chain from under their shirts and stated they were agents and that the back seat passengers were in training.
