Ellwood City is hungry for more. COACH TALK: Ellwood City Track Under New Tutelage

The Ellwood City Track & Field team will be under new tutelage this spring and the group of athletes will look to overcome a bit of adversity. $3.3 million dollars in renovations for Helling Stadium will begin in April. The work includes the installation of a new artificial turf field, new lighting, and a completely redone track. WPIAL Track Championship Qualifiers

Several local athletes qualified for states during the Track WPIAL Championships yesterday held at Baldwin High School. Riverside Qualifiers: Lance Fisher is the best in the WPIAL Class 2A in both discus and shot put. Calvin Wetzel took first in Boys 300 Meter Hurdles AA. Former Panther Standout Named GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year

Tiffin University right-hander Michael Boswell finished his rookie campaign with five wins in 11 appearances, helping the Dragons post their best winning percentage in program history. For his efforts, Boswell was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman Pitcher of the Year, the first time a Tiffin player has ever taken the award. Boswell finished second on the team in innings and wins, and averaged 8.02 strikeouts per nine innings.
