ECASD Board Votes to Allow 1/4 Capacity at District Events

The Ellwood City School Area School District’s Board of Directors voted to allow spectators at events at ¼ capacity, but those in attendance will be required to wear masks, to social distance, and to sign a waiver excusing the district from liability. In a 6-1 vote the board decided that Ellwood City sports will now be played with the support of the community. ECASD Board of Directors Push for Spectator Attendance at Games

There’s no doubt the Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors support student participation in Fall sports, but they also made it clear that they want spectators in the stands, on the sidelines, and cheering on the athletes. At Thursday’s meeting, Director Erica Gray insisted the board find a way to make that happen. ECASD Board to Consider Virtual Broadcasts for Sports Spectators

Ellwood City Area School District’s sports could be virtual for spectators come Fall. The board is set to consider a proposal that would include a $2,000 cost to stream home games. “It is a great way to get our sports out there,” said Interim Superintendent Wes Shipley. Ellwood City School Directors Approve Personnel, Spring Coaches

The Ellwood City School Board Directors voted during Thursday’s board meeting to approve personnel hires. Among the appointments were Michael Elmer who was hired as an instructional aide and David Poore and Megan Rosenberger were approved as mentors for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Heidi Feltrop, secondary librarian was granted tenure. Board directors also voted to update the ACT 93 Agreement to include Paul Pishioneri and his salary increase to $72,000 for the 2020-2021 school year. EC Amateur Baseball Registration

It’s that time of year again – the Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Registration is looking for players for the upcoming season. This year the team will be playing on the newly renovated Friedhoff Field, something that EC Baseball team member Mike Widmaier said the team is looking forward to. “Little League baseball was established in Williamsport, PA in 1939. Youth baseball has been a staple in Ellwood City since 1950. Ellwood VS. Riverside Tickets on Sale

Student tickets for this Friday’s, Ellwood City Boy’s Varsity Basketball Game versus Riverside are on sale in the high school office. The cost is $2 per ticket. No student tickets will be sold at the door for this game. All tickets at the door will be $5 general admission and $1 for senior citizens.

Ellwood City Wolverines Lose to Farrell

Although Anthony Roth put 14 points on the scoreboard, Lincoln fell to Farrell 45-43 Wednesday night in non-section play.   Kyi Wright connected on a driving shot with under five seconds the play that turned into the game winner for Farrell. Ellwood City Wolverines Notch Win Against Mohawk Area

Lincoln won 66-54 against Mohawk Area on Tuesday with the help of Broc Boariu, who scored 22 points. Ellwood City Wolverines pulled away early with a 22-point first quarter after an impressive 22-2 run, eventually claiming a 36-20 lead by halftime. With a field goal percentage of 47% (7-for-15), Boariu had a great game from the field, also sinking 50% (6-for-12) of threes attempted.
