Would you like to come play competitive fastpitch softball with a local organization that has produced players who have contributed to multiple undefeated seasons at both the junior high and high school levels, earned section and WPIAL championships, and moved on to success all levels of collegiate softball? Many say that one of the hardest tasks in sports is to defeat a team three times in the same season. The Lady Wolverines experienced it the hard way as Mohawk led from wire to wire and defeated Ellwood City 14-0. Fastpitch Softball Sign-Ups Continue For Ellwood City

Ellwood City Fastpitch Softball sign-ups are ongoing in Ellwood City. According to their informational flyer, anyone from 8u to 16u that is interested in playing Ellwood City Fastpitch this season has an opportunity to do so. The league offers 8U (coach pitch instructional), 10U (girls modified coach pitch), 12U, and 16U (both girl pitch). The league plays home games in Ellwood City and away games, dependent on location, in Lawrence County. Ellwood City School Directors Approve Personnel, Spring Coaches

The Ellwood City School Board Directors voted during Thursday’s board meeting to approve personnel hires. Among the appointments were Michael Elmer who was hired as an instructional aide and David Poore and Megan Rosenberger were approved as mentors for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Heidi Feltrop, secondary librarian was granted tenure. Board directors also voted to update the ACT 93 Agreement to include Paul Pishioneri and his salary increase to $72,000 for the 2020-2021 school year. Ellwood City Lil Angels Announce Softball Sign Ups

The Ellwood City Girls Softball League has announced its 2020 slow pitch softball sign-ups. Signs ups will take place the first three Saturdays in February, beginning on February 1st.  All sign-up dates will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last until 12:00 p.m.  Sign ups will take place at Venezie Sporting Goods and Apparel, located at 512 Lawrence Avenue, in Ellwood City. Junior High Softball Team Loses First Game In Two Years; Record Now 6-1

They say that all good things must end. For the Lady Wolverines, their 25 game winning streak dating back to April of 2017 was snapped by the Laurel Spartans. Ellwood City School Board Expresses Disappointment Over Fireworks; Discusses School Start Times, Fields

The Ellwood City Area School District Board addressed the public on Monday night regarding blame placed on them by the Festival Committee for the cancelation of the Festival’s traditional fireworks display. VARSITY BASEBALL DEFEATS NEW BRIGHTON Ellwood City Wolverines stole the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over New Brighton on Wednesday. After defeating North Allegheny White on Tuesday, the black squad visited Stiefel Park on Wednesday. This game was more competitive but the end result was another victory for the Lady Wolverines.
