Lady Panthers Defeat Hopewell Thanks To Sixth Inning Boost

The Riverside Lady Panthers scored eight runs in the sixth inning on its way to a 12-1 victory over Hopewell on Wednesday. Prior to the game four Panther seniors – Madison Fryer, Sam Rosenberger, Braley Zappia, and Aliya Ottaviani – were recognized as part of the Senior Night festivities. Six Ellwood City Wolverine seniors were recognized in advance of the Wolverines final home game of its season Tuesday afternoon. Ellwood City was defeated by Shenango 14-1. Isaiah Lutz led the offense with two hits, including a double. Senior Blake Foreman collected the only other hit offensively as Ellwood City was stymied and held to three hits on the afternoon. Joseph Roth took the loss on the mound. Roth started and allowed six earned runs across three innings. Ellwood City Wrestling Set To Finish Season Strong; Senior Night Wednesday

The Ellwood City Wrestling team is set to have its only home match of the season on Wednesday, February 9th against Sharon. The Wolverines (3-7 Overall, 2-2 League) will recognize its seniors during the home match for a Senior Night festivities. The team features two seniors, Jaden Stull (his first year wrestling) and Donavin Stiffler (his second year wrestling). The team will celebrate Senior Night and then varsity will wrestle beginning at 7:00 p.m. There will be no junior high wrestlers in attendance as a rescheduled tournament has the junior high team at a MAC tournament in Freedom on Wednesday….

The Riverside Panthers fell to the visiting New Brighton Lions 34-0 Friday night during its Senior Night game at Riverside Memorial Stadium. After defeating rival Ellwood City for their first victory of the season last Friday, the host Panthers found a tough match-up against New Brighton and quarterback Gary Pugh, Jr. The Lions QB accounted for five offensive touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing) accounting for all the evening’s offense. PHOTOS: Welsh Leads Wolverines To Wet & Wild Senior Night Victory

As if one overtime was not enough on a wet and sloppy Friday Night, the Ellwood City and Brentwood non-conference game stretched over three hours and into a third overtime before the Wolverine came out victorious, 34-26, to cap off their 2018 season in victorious fashion. Ellwood City Senior Brady Welsh scored on a 6-yard run to secure a triple overtime and led a Wolverine defense that stifled Brentwood’s last chance in the third OT frame as fellow senior Ricky Pitrelli intercepted a final pass attempt by Brentwood QB John Milcic.
