BINGO! Winner Announced for Relay For Life Bug Bingo

We have a winner! Eric Ryan Corporation and EllwoodCity.org are pleased to announce that Julia Rider is the winner of Bug Bingo. Bug Bingo was a combined effort of both businesses to raise money for the Ellwood City Relay for Life. Rider won $200 for her coverall card. She is pictured here with Eric Venezie, representing EllwoodCity.org. Cards were sold during the May 18 Relay for Life event. Many attended the Ellwood City’s “Be A Superhero” Relay for Life  Saturday on Lawrence Avenue. There was a “Chalk the Town” sidewalk art contest The included food, crafts and vendors along with musical entertainment. One Voice, Average Jane, Elvis Vaughn Hudspath, The’m Guys and Nickle Plated Revolver performed throughout the day at the relay. There was also a performance from the young dancers at Diamond Dance Academy. The evening wrapped up with a Luminara Dedication Ceremony, where decorated luminary bags were lit and lined Lawrence Avenue. Below is a gallery of images from the Relay for Life:

Be A Superhero Relay For Life -Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:00 – 10:00 P.M. Public is welcome to join us in downtown Ellwood City at 1:00 p.m. for our opening ceremony, survivor (who are our superheros) and team laps.  Teams will start fundraising; walkers can circle the sidewalk from 5th to 6th streets on Lawrence Avenue follow the track shoe footprints, the kids zone will open along with many food and craft vendors.  Chalk The Town sidewalk art contest will be from 2 pm until 6:30 pm between the municipal building and Grandpaws, registration starts at 1 pm.  Entertainment includes;…


Ellwood City Organizations Dismayed by Council Decision to Charge Events Recoup Fees

“I’ve been a volunteer since I was 19, and I’m choked up by what I’m seeing,” visitor Stephanie Muntean said to council during yesterday’s Ellwood City Borough Council agenda meeting. “As taxpayers, I want to have events, not bare streets. We pay taxes, give us something back.” Muntean’s comments echoed those of over half a dozen speakers and over 50 visitors, all protesting a decision by council to charge organizations for the costs of events held in the borough.
