Christmas Angels Toy Drive

There is still time to donate to the Riverside Christmas Angel Collection Drive, which takes donations up until December 11. Dear Editor, The town of Wampum is small in population, just 620 when everyone is at home, but big in heart and action.  Wampum is midway between New Castle and Beaver Falls and just a short drive west of Ellwood City.  This past Saturday, December 2nd, we held our 45th Annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade, and our little town’s population swelled into the thousands, our largest crowd ever. Criminal Complaints: Fombell Man Eludes Officers in High Speed Chase

Fombell Man Eludes Officers in High Speed Chase Ryan Patrick Kelosky, 24, of Fombell, is facing charges of fleeing an officer and reckless driving after an incident occurred late last month. According to the criminal complaint, officers observed Kelosky stop at a green light then peel out at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Second Street. While the officer was attempting to stop the vehicle, Kelosky sped up over 100mph around the 100 block of Portersville Road until the officer was no longer able to see the vehicle. REMINDER: Time is Almost Up to Vote Connoquenessing for River of the Year

Voting for Pennsylvania’s River of the Year ends TODAY, December 22, 2017. The winning river gets a $10,000 grant. The Connoquenessing was 1 of 5 nominations picked out of hundreds of submissions. As we all know, over time this local waterway had been neglected and abused leading to its rating as the 2nd most polluted waterway in America in 2000. Since then through Allegheny Aquatic Alliance and other organizations’ efforts, significant positive changes have been made to this creek and have resulted in the restoration of it. Decorated and ready for this weekend’s Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s House Tour is the DeSanzo house, located at 417 Hazel Ave. The home features several Christmas trees, mangers, and a Christmas village set up above the cabinets – to name just a few iconic decorations! The Ellwood City area United Fund campaign is now under way. The 2017-2018 campaign runs until December 31, 2017. The fund is an independent local United Fund with absolutely no paid staff or administration. You can be assured that your donation stays here in Ellwood City.
