Sale of the YDC: “We Now Have Confirmation That YDC is Back Up On the Market.”

State Representative Aaron Bernstine posted a few moments ago on Facebook a live update on the future of the New Castle Youth Development Center (YDC) property. “We now have confirmation that YDC is back up on the market,” he states. “Hopefully we will be able to get this thing sold, get it back into the community, exactly doing what it should do, creating jobs right here for our area.” Previously, the 140-acre property with several standing buildings, was pending a purchase by HIRA, an Islamic-based educational company. Pollution Control Project Funded in Lawrence County

Lawrence County Conservation District received $2,000 to implement a Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Project. “This grant allows our conservation district to address local pollution issues. We plan to educate local residents on how they can do their part to ensure there is enough clean water for future generations,” said Katie Schmidt, Watershed Specialist. Education and outreach about the project began in May of this year, and the District is continuing to look for volunteers. Senator Vogel Continues Push for Telemedicine Initiatives in Pennsylvania

Technology can help overcome the barriers to quality patient care created by distance and reduce the costs of those services, according to Senator Elder Vogel (R-Beaver), the author of legislation aimed at promoting telemedicine in Pennsylvania.
