Lady Wolverines Pass First Test, Defeat Avonworth 12-6 The Antelopes entered the game with a ton of offensive hype and an undefeated record. By game’s end, it was the visiting Lady Wolverines who carried the big sticks and remained undefeated on the young season. Ellwood City scored 2 runs in the top of the first and never looked back. Ellwood City Wolverines Loses Lead Early in Defeat Ellwood City Wolverines watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-1 loss to West Allegheny on Saturday. The game was tied at zero with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the bottom of the seventh when Anthony Roth singled off of Matt Veon, driving in one run.    In the section opener for Ellwood City, the Wolverine bats heated up just like the weather. The offense banged out 13 hits in just 3 innings of work as the game was halted by the mercy rule. Ariana Garroway and Zoe Kalantzis both hit shots that left the yard. Garroway finished the day 3-3 with a 3 run blast, scored twice and totaled 4 rbi’s.
