ELLWOOD, in partnership with Lawrence County School-to-Work, hosted their 18th annual High School Engineering Day on Thursday, March 7, at ELLWOOD City Forge. More than 20 students from area high schools visited the ELLWOOD location to learn about engineering careers and more. Natural Gas Odor Forces Brief Evacuation At Lincoln High School

An odor of natural gas detected in a Lincoln High School storage room Thursday morning, forcing a brief evacuation of the high school. This according to the Ellwood City Area School District and superintendent Wes Shipley. “We evacuated the building to Hartman while Columbia Gas and the local fire department investigated,” said Shipley in an emailed statement Friday. Both Columbia Gas and the fire department noted that the levels of gas in the air were minute and were not at an explosive level. 2023 Ellwood City Homecoming Court Announced

Congratulations to the 2023 Ellwood City Homecoming Court! Ellwood City will celebrate their 67th Annual Homecoming festivities next week when the Wolverines host the New Brighton Lions at Helling Stadium on Friday, October 6th. Students will celebrate all week with themed Spirit Days sponsored by Student Council. The 2023 Homecoming King will be crowned at a school pep rally on Friday afternoon and the 2023 Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime of the football game that evening. When the members of the Lincoln High School Class of 1968 received their diplomas, The Jackson 5’s, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin were at the top of the music charts. The Lincoln High School Class of 1978 enjoyed its 45th Class Reunion on Saturday, July 22nd at the Wurtemburg/Perry Fire Department. Sixty classmates and 30 guests celebrated the reunion celebration. A buffet dinner and dessert was provided along with a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese Auction.


LHS Class of 1959 Holds Mini Reunion

With 32 classmates in attendance, the Ellwood City Lincoln High School Class of 1959 held a mini reunion on June 30th at Mike’s Main Street, on Lawrence Avenue. Special guests included Bob Morrow, Mayor Anthony Court, Coach Jeff “Gino” Fotia, and Attorneys Larry and Marisa Kelly. Classmate Keith Morrison traveled the farthest to attend, logging 1,132 miles from Florida. Eight attendees came from out of state.
