Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County Host Master Gardener Basic Training Class

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County will be hosting a Basic Training Class beginning Fall 2018. There will be Open House Informational Meetings to discuss that Training Class along with addressing any questions candidates may have. Ellwood City 15u Softball Team Brings Home 2018 Lawrence County Championship

The team traveled to historic Dean Park in New Castle on Thursday evening to capture the championship hardware.  They started fast as they plated the first 10 runs of the game in the opening 3 innings to cruise home with an 11-5 victory over the Union Scotties. Kali Barnett led off the home half of the first with a single into left field and advanced to second on an errant throw by the left fielder.  Angie Nardone moved her to third on an infield groundout and she scored on a sacrifice fly into center field by Aliya Garroway. Master Gardeners Host 3nd Annual Garden Tour

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County are hosting their Third Annual Garden Tour on Sunday, July 22rd from Noon to 5:00 p.m. The tour highlights four area gardens, which can be toured at your own pace. Master Gardeners will be available at each location to answer questions. The tour will consist of four gardens within Lawrence County. The Altman Garden is located in New Wilmington includes 3 acres of hostas, daylilies, lilium, and daffodils. Pam Docherty’s gardens will be also on the tour located in New Castle. Wampum Trail Town Festival

The Wampum Trail Town Festival will be held rain or shine from 11:00 am  to 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 23, at the Wampum Train Station, 303 Main Street, Wampum, PA 16157.  Vendors will be able to begin setting up at 9:30 am and are expected to remain set up until 3:00 pm. People can celebrate local trails, on land and water, at the festival. Lawrence County Kids Car Show April 29th

The Lawrence County Car Show is a family friendly event featuring cars, face painting and music. The month of April is know as Child Abuse Prevention Month and this event would like to shed light and bring awareness to child abuse, their community and appreciation for our countries resource families. Previous Council President Appointed Chairman on Housing Authority Committee

Previous Council President, Connie MacDonald, was appointed yesterday to an open seat on the Lawrence County Housing Authority committee – filling the unexpired term of authority chairman William Betz, who has moved out of the county. MacDonald, who lost Ellwood City Council reelection in 2017 – ending his Council term officially in December, joins four other members, Rev. David Young, Debby Hennon, Lee Ann Fulena and Holly Girdwood, and will now represent Ellwood City Borough on the housing committee. Slippery Rock University Receives Grant to Train Veterans to be Teachers, Bernstine Says

State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced that Slippery Rock University, along with West Chester University in southeastern part of the state, will receive more than $272,000 in funding under the federal Troops to Teachers grant program. “I believe the extensive training, vast experience and patriotism of our nation’s veterans make them excellent candidates to lead our classrooms,” Bernstine said. “Programs like Troops to Teachers help us give back in a small way to our veterans while putting some of our most upstanding citizens before our future generations.” The Troops to Teachers grant program, managed by the Defense Activity for Nontraditional…

Documentary “Project 22” Coming to BC3 at Lawrence Crossing

Riverside Golf Team to Compete in WPIALs

The Riverside Golf Team qualified for the WPIAL team playoffs and will be competing tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Indian Run Golf Course in Avella, PA., at 9:00 a.m. The team will leave at 6a.m. from the high school parking lot.
