Stiefel Hockey Summer Season Wrapup: Firing Squad and Goose Take Division Titles

The Stiefel Hockey league completed its summer season by crowning champions in both its “A” and “B” divisions.  In the “A” division Goose captured the title after sweeping Young’s Barber Shop in a best of 3 championship.  Matt Puntureri led the way for Goose picking up 21 goals in 4 playoff games with help from his brothers Nate, Michael, and Tyler. T.J. Defense Shines for Both Teams, Vikings Win by Late Field Goal

Defense wins championships. It’s the famous phrase by many in football. Both teams on the field friday night proved worthy of winning based upon defensive play; however, only one team may prevail. The Hopewell Vikings were able to get that last push to win last night’s game over the Wolverines. The first quarter accounted for only 7 total drives by both teams as the quarter only took 20 minutes of actual time. Meet the Players: Stiefel Hockey League

The Stiefel Hockey League is just ending their successful summer season and entering their fall season, which is expected to start mid-September. The league is made up of a diverse crowd of players, most doing it just for some fun, friendly competition. Currently, the league has at least five teams already signed up for the fall season but is still accepting team and individual sign-ups. WXED to Air Live Wolverines Football Coverage

Ellwood City’s very own radio station, WXED, will now be airing the Wolverine’s home games live, hosted by their resident on-air personality, Troy Robert. First Game of Season: Wolverines Vs. Central Valley

The Ellwood City Wolverines football team will be challenged by Central Valley this Friday during their first official match of the season. The game will be played at Helling Stadium and presale tickets are now being sold. Tickets can be purchased at the high school’s main office today, Thursday 8/31, from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm and tomorrow, Friday 9/1, from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. The cost of the tickets are as follows: Students $1.00 Adults $4.00 No student tickets will be sold at the gate on Friday all tickets will be $5.00.

The Annual Pie Festival hosted by the Lincoln Blue Band will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24 at Helling Stadium. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. This is a special event to kick off the Blue Band’s fall entertainment. Back to School: Wolverines Football Site to Introduce HD Live Streaming

Along with the general yearly updates to the schedule and roster, the official Ellwood City Wolverines website is expecting to make further changes for this upcoming season, with the biggest alteration being the addition of high-definition live streaming for both home and away games. Lincoln High Varsity Football Announcement

Any boy entering grades 9 through 12 this fall is reminded that football practices begin on August 7, 2017 at Hellings Stadium at 1:30 pm. Prior to attending this practice student/athletes are required to complete a PIAA physical exam. The physical exam paperwork can be picked up at the high school office from 8 am. to 2 pm. Monday through Friday. No student can participate without a physical exam. Equipment will be issued to players on August 2, 2017 at 6:30 pm. at Helling Stadium.
