Relay For Life Event Leadership Meeting Thursday, September 14, 2017 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Please join us for our first meeting of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ellwood on Thursday, September 14th at 6pm. We will be meeting at The Beanery, 212 Portersville Road in Ellport, (the old La Isla Mexican Restaurant). We will be celebrating our 2017 event and beginning plans for our 2018 event. Meet the Players: Stiefel Hockey League

The Stiefel Hockey League is just ending their successful summer season and entering their fall season, which is expected to start mid-September. The league is made up of a diverse crowd of players, most doing it just for some fun, friendly competition. Currently, the league has at least five teams already signed up for the fall season but is still accepting team and individual sign-ups. Labor Day, which often marks the end of summer for many outdoor activities such as public pools, is this Monday, September 4, 2017. Labor Day is a federal holiday which means federal buildings are closed including post offices and government buildings. Story Telling Festival: Into the Woods

Ellwood City’s sixteenth annual Story Telling Festival will be taking place Saturday, September 16 from 4p.m.-7:30p.m. at Ewing Park. The event is free to attend. Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. would like to invite all area seniors and their families to attend his free Senior Expo on Friday, September 15 at the Cascade Park Pavilion, 1928 E. Living Treasures Showcases Baby Giraffe

Yesterday, Living Treasures Wild Animal Park updated their Facebook page with a lengthy post about the birth of their newest addition, a baby giraffe! The giraffe, who has yet to be named, was born on Sunday, August 27th at 5:31 p.m., weighed in at 145lbs and stood 6’3 feet tall. He is the son of two other resident giraffes at the facility, Levi and Blue Jeans. Both Levi and Blue Jeans are five-year-old first time parents. According to the Facebook post, labor began in the giraffe yard around 4:15 p.m. where many guests caught a glimpse of the baby’s hooves…


Good Samaritan Hospice Butterfly Release

Good Samaritan Hospice is hosting a butterfly release at 2p.m. on Sunday the 27, at the Four Seasons Pavilion at Brady’s Run Park in Beaver Falls. Anyone is welcome to release a butterfly to honor and celebrate the memory of a loved one. Participants are asked to reserve a live butterfly in advance for $10 each.
