Activities at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Tuesday, October 31, at 10:00 a.m. — Family Laptime, designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers and preschoolers. Please note that there will only be one session this week, at 10:00 a.m., due to Trick-or-Treat night scheduled for Tuesday evening. The 6:30 p.m. session will resume next week. Following the progress being made on the demolition of 509 through 515 Lawrence Ave., these photos were snapped this morning by our journalist to show the current state of the buildings. As of right now the front side of the stretch is still intact. We are still waiting to hear back from the Borough Manager regarding the expected completion time of the project. Updates to follow.

School Board and Council: Primary Election Tuesday

Primary election for running candidates on both school board and council will be held tomorrow. There are four seats up for election on school board and council. Running for school board are incumbents Anthony Buzzelli, Kathy Pansera and Renee Pitrelli who will be running against newcomers Norm Boots, Kathy McCommons and Barbra Wilson. Running for council are Republican incumbents Council President Connie MacDonald and Council Vice President David DeCaria, Democratic incumbent Councilwoman Michele Lamenza running against Republican newcomers Rob Brough, John Cress, Brandon Fisher and Lisa Gurrera and Democratic newcomers James Barry, Caleb Cragle, John Pansera and Bryan Vincent. Ellwood City Borough Council Meet the Candidate Night Recap

Less than half of the running candidates attended yesterday evening’s Meet the Candidate Night, hosted by the Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet. Four candidates, three of which are current members of council running for reelection, attended the public event. Democratic incumbent, Michele Lamenza, and newcomer, Caleb Cragle attended – their challengers, former councilman James Barry, and newcomers Bryan Vincent and John Pansera were not present. Republic incumbents, David DeCaria and Connie MacDonald were present while their republican challengers Rob Brough, John Cress, Brandon Fisher and Lisa Guerrera were absent. PPA Factors, Energy Costs and Consumption Comparison for February 2017 – May of 2017 and Previous Year

The attached information is being provided by the Borough in order to inform Ellwood City Electric customers of the effect the reduction in the Transmission and Capacity charges set by PJM has had upon the Rate Adjustment (PPA Factor) and customer billings during the months of February 2017 through the upcoming billing in May 2017. Comparisons of PPA components (Energy Purchased, American Municipal Power-Power Charges, as well as Transmission and Capacity Charges) were used.
