Two Ellwood City teams collected victories Tuesday afternoon with the Ellwood City Softball team defeating Beaver Falls 10-0 and the Wolverine Baseball team defeating Mohawk 7-1. The Ellwood City Junior High softball team racked up two big wins this past week against Beaver Falls and Shenango. After defeating their cross town rival Riverside last week, the Wolverines continued on their winning ways to bring their season record to 6-1. Pitchers Schwarz and Bogacki each pitched quick games this week with the team only playing eight innings between two games. The Ellwood City Junior High Softball Team improved their season record to 4-1 after a victory against their cross town rival Riverside on Monday night. In the month of April, the team has only suffered a 9-5 loss to Mohawk and is currently on a four game win streak. In their last game against Riverside, the Wolverines took care of business 10-1 with pitchers Emma Bogacki and Amber McQuiston leading the way. The Lady Wolverines traveled to Monaca on Friday afternoon to square off in a doubleheader with a very talented Central Valley Warrior team. Fox Powers Panthers In Blowout, EC Junior High Softball Collects First Victory

The Riverside Panthers easily dispatched New Brighton 11-1 on Monday afternoon at Dan Oliastro Field. Riverside (3-1 overall) got on the board in the first inning with some power as Austin Dambach smashed a 2-run home run to stake the Panthers to an early lead. After adding on in the second and fourth innings, the Panthers exploded for four runs in the sixth inning. Dambach, Danny Fox, and Nick Ottaviani powered the big inning with RBIs. For the second straight game, the Lady Wolverines won a game with a walk off hit. In Thursday night’s season finale, Sydni Haswell was the hero. She laced a line shot up the middle to score Taylor Covert and Maura Agostinelli as the team defeated Hampton in dramatic fashion by a score of 7-6.
