Lady Wolverines Defeat Rival Riverside On Senior Night

Five Ellwood City seniors were recognized prior to Thursday Night’s rivalry game versus Riverside. The Lady Wolverines proceeded to defeat the visiting Panthers 49-18. Three players paced Ellwood City in double figures led by sophomore Claire Noble and her game-high 16 points.  Seniors Kyla Servick (14 points) and Emily Sedgwick (10 points) helped the Wolverines to victory. The Ellwood City Girls Basketball team used an impressive 23-3 first quarter spurt to cruise to a 47-15 victory over rival Riverside on Tuesday night. Three Wolverines finished in double figures led by senior guard Kyla Servick who finished with a game-high 12 points. The Ellwood City Wolverines girls and boys basketball teams each defeated the Panthers and swept the rivalry doubleheader Tuesday night at Riverside High School. The girls ran away with a 42-12 victory in the first game while the boys used a strong second half to collect its 80-53 victory in the second game of the evening. The Ellwood City Girls Basketball team has collected two impressive victories at home this week. On Monday, the Lady Wolverines secured a section win over the visiting Beaver Falls Tigers by a score of 48-44. Ellwood City was led by junior Kyla Servick who poured in 15 points. The Ellwood City Lady Wolverines used a 21-1 second quarter surge to race past the visiting Riverside Panthers 45-11 Monday Night at Lincoln High School. The Ellwood City girls basketball team made the most of their upset bid on Wednesday, but after battling all game against the higher seeded Cougars of Carlynton, the Wolverines finally fell 44-39 in their opening round match-up at North Hills. The inside-outside duo of seniors Natalia Greco and Isabella Roth combined for 29 points to lead the Lady Wolverines to 51-39 senior night victory over Mohawk Monday night.
