Fluharty Takes 3rd Overall At PIAA Championships, Ellwood City Boys Place 7th Overall

Riverside Panther senior Lexi Fluharty posted a 3rd overall finish in the PIAA Class-A Cross Country individual championships at Parkview XC Course in Hershey, PA on Saturday. Fluharty, who won the WPIAL Championship last month, finished with an overall time of 19:28 on Saturday. Her time and finish was the best finish by a WPIAL District 7 participant. Fluharty Claims WPIAL Individual Championship, Ellwood City Finishes 3rd Overall

Lexi Fluharty finished 1st Overall in the WPIAL Class-A Cross Country Championships at White Oak Park in McKeesport on Thursday. The Riverside senior finished with a time of 18:54.50. Fellow Panther runners Brooke Wissinger (20:48.10) and Isabella D’Allessandro (30:39.90) helped pace the Riverside team effort in the girls Class-A Championships. All three Lady Panthers have qualified for the upcoming PIAA State Championships. ELLWOOD CITY CROSS COUNTRY: Ellwood City swept Beaver Falls and Shenango handedly on Tuesday. Four Wolverine runners took the top four spots in the boys overall. SPORTS: Ellwood City Cross Country and Golf Teams Continue Winning Streaks

The Ellwood City Wolverines Co-Ed Cross Country Team and Co-Ed Golf teams each collected victories last week to continue their respective winning streaks. Golf has now won four straight matches after losing four of their previous five matches. The Wolverines last week defeated the Mohawk Warriors in by far the biggest upset on the year by Ellwood City with a score of 214-218. The victory came eight days after the Wolverines were victorious against the Union Scotties 221-232 to break the losing ways. CROSS COUNTRY: Five Local Runners Qualify For PIAA State Championships

Ellwood City and Riverside Cross Country teams had a collective five runners qualify for PIAA State Championships as a result of their individual finishes at the WPIAL Championships held Thursday at California University of Pennsylvania. For Ellwood City, Colton Crizer and Joel Brooks earned qualifying times while Ty Fluherty qualified in the WPIAL Boys Championships. Fluherty finished in 3rd place overall in the Class 1A Finals with a time of 17:31.7. Crizer (19:01.6) finished 30th overall and Brooks (19:12.2) finished 36th overall in their qualifying efforts. Ellwood City Boys Claim Tri-County Cross Country Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country Team has claimed the 2021 Tri-County Championship. The Wolverines runners collected its victory in wet, soggy conditions at Shenango High School, finishing (39) and besting Shenango (64), Neshannock (81), Mohawk (88), Laurel (117), and Riverside (129). “I am very happy with the teams performance,” said head coach Mark Hall. “I do believe they all got personal best times for the year.” The boys finished unbeaten and claimed the WPIAL Section 1-1A title, and now have won back-to-back Tri-County Championships. The Ellwood City Wolverines boys cross country team collected its final regular season victory this week, finishing its campaign a perfect 10-0 and claiming its section championship. EC Cross Country Team Finishes Third At WPIAL Championships

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team finished third overall at the WPIAL Championships this week at White Oak Park. “I am very proud of this third place finish,” said head coach Mark Hall. “This boys team work really hard all year long.
