The Lillyville Church of God, 408 Hickernell Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117, is hosting a free Clothing Closet tonight from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Old Photo Friday: Borough Property Nativity Scene

Although the photos are not very old, they are certainly a thing of the past after a Wisconsin-based anti-religion group threatened to sue the Borough of Ellwood City in 2011 if they didn’t take down the traditional nativity display, which has since been absent from the property. The group, Freedom From Religion Foundation, promotes nontheism and defends the constitutional separation between religion and government, their website states. Calvin Presbyterian Hosts “Blue Christmas” Service

Calvin Presbyterian Church, 615 Crescent Avenue on Sunday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m. is hosting a “Blue Christmas” service for those in attendance to remember their loved ones. This is an ideal worship service for anyone in the community who is grieving or struggling in any way this Christmas season. There will be special music, an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of a loved one, and a Word of hope. Light refreshments and opportunity for prayer will follow.

Last year during December we had hardly any snow and the average temperatures were in the 50’s and upwards.
