A series of events hosted by the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off the first weekend of December. Friday evening, Ellwood City held its “Let There Be Lights” downtown extravaganza that featured street vendors, live performances, and the lighting of the large holiday tree in the community plaza. On Saturday, Lawrence Avenue was greeted with floats, groups and trucks as part of the annual Christmas Parade. Wampum held its 49th Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday. Over 50 units, including cars, floats, bands and marching groups participated in the parade. which is billed as the biggest Christmas parade in Lawrence County. This year the parade was dedicated to Frank Yoho of Wayne Township, who had portrayed Santa Claus in the parade for 28 years. REMINDER: Local Holiday Events This Weekend!

Several holiday related events are schedule to take place this weekend to kick-off December and the holiday season. First, and on Friday, December 3rd beginning at 5:30 p.m., Ellwood City will be holding its annual Light Up Night in downtown Ellwood City.  The official lighting of the Christmas tree will take place at 6:00 p.m. with fireworks afterward. There will also be various activities for families and vendors set up on Lawrence Avenue. Sign Ups Being Accepted for Upcoming Wampum Christmas Parade

Sign your kids up for treats! The Wampum Area 49th Annual Christmas Parade is Saturday, December 4, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee is still accepting sign-ups for treat bags. Following the Parade on December 4th, Santa Claus will distribute treat bags to children in the Wampum gymnasium. COVID-19 protocol will be followed. Treat bags are free to Wampum area children. Wampum Announces Cancellation of Christmas Parade

In a post on social media Sunday, the Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee (WACP) announced the cancellation of their annual Christmas Parade. “After much consideration. The Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee regrets that we made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Christmas Parade.” The message was announced by Donna Kuiken, long-standing WACP President. “No one is more disappointed than we are to cancel this event. The Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce is beginning to prepare for downtown holiday events! Small Business Saturday in the Ellwood City community will be held Saturday, November 30th while the ‘Let There Be Lights’ weekend of events is scheduled to be held Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th. Ellwood City held their annual holiday events this past weekend – Friday night’s Light Up Night and Saturday afternoon’s Christmas Parade invited families and friends downtown Ellwood City for holiday festivities. Important Christmas Parade Information

The annual Ellwood City Christmas Parade will march down Lawrence Avenue Saturday, December 1st at 3:30. The parade will start at the intersection of 4th Street and Lawrence Avenue and end at the intersection of 8th Street and Lawrence Avenue. Staging will take place in the Holy Redeemer School parking lot. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 2:45 and enter the lot at Crescent Avenue and 3rd Street.
