Ellwood City Youth Basketball Clinic Planned

A basketball clinic is scheduled this month for Ellwood City boys and girls in grade 3-6. The clinic will be held over two weekends, Saturday, November 6th and Saturday, November 13th, and is garnering some attention according to Girls Varsity Head Coach Dena Noble. “We have over 80 ECASD students signed up to participate,” says Noble. Ellwood City Champion Returns to Basketball Court As Head Coach

Dena Noble has never been able to forget the feeling of being on a winning team. That adrenaline rush of hitting the basketball court is still a draw for Noble, who was recently named head coach of the Lincoln Girls Basketball Team. Lincoln Girls Basketball Team Earns A Commendation

Council President Judith Dici presented a Commendation to the Lincoln High School girl’s basketball team for their successful season and trip to the playoffs. Pictured left to right: Assistant coach Paul Hervatine, seniors Natalia Greco and Isabella Roth, assistant coach Vanessa Venezie, Council President Judith Dici, Councilwoman Marilyn Mancini and assistant Principal John Sovich. The Lady Wolverines, under the direction of first-year head coach Marc Heil (not pictured), earned a playoff birth after a 13-10 regular season.  The team fell in the Class-3A playoffs to Carlynton in February.


Ellwood City Wolverines Notch Win Against Mohawk Area

Lincoln won 66-54 against Mohawk Area on Tuesday with the help of Broc Boariu, who scored 22 points. Ellwood City Wolverines pulled away early with a 22-point first quarter after an impressive 22-2 run, eventually claiming a 36-20 lead by halftime. With a field goal percentage of 47% (7-for-15), Boariu had a great game from the field, also sinking 50% (6-for-12) of threes attempted. Weekly High School Basketball Team Recaps

This week the Ellwood City Boys Varsity team played a very close game against Rochester, defeating them by a mere two points. Rochester took the lead in the second quarter but Ellwood regained control in the third and fourth, ending the game with a close 64-62 victory. Forward Sean Busby was recognized as the “player of the game.” Tonight the Ellwood City Wolverines will face off against their long-time rival, the Panthers at Riverside High School. Riverside Players to be Presented with WPIAL Championship Rings

Tomorrow the players of Riverside’s 2017 varsity baseball team will be receiving their WPIAL Championship rings during the basketball match against Ellwood City. This is the fifth year for Riverside to win the WPIAL Championship. The team won their 2017 season 19-2, losing their last game to Central. Ellwood City Wolverines Defeat Rochester

Ellwood City defeated Rochester 64-62 on Wednesday after an evenly matched game that saw neither team lead by more than six points. After the game worked its way to another tie late in the fourth quarter, Ellwood City used back to back three-pointers from Anthony Roth and Broc Boariu to stretch out to their biggest lead in the contest at 56-50. Munhall, PA– Lincoln won 55-42 against Steel Valley on Wednesday with the help of Anthony Roth, who scored 25 points, including 17 points in a decisive 3rd quarter for the Wolverines. Ellwood City Wolverines clinched their lead in the third quarter on a free throw from Roth. Lincoln came back with a vengeance in the final two quarters, after being behind early in the game, trailing 23-19 at the half.
