Today's paper had an article stating that bottled water averages out to
$4.00 a gallon and is usually just tap water. If we stop buying bottled
water, we can use the money to buy gasoline. Don't drink the gas, and

I don't care if it's a republican, a democrat or an independent but
someone better figure out a way to bring more gas to the market.
I don't want to hear about "alternate" or "renewable" resources. I owe 4
years of payments on a car that runs on GAS.
It gets good milage (30mpg on a bad day) but still, I bought it when gas
and food where cheaper so the higher prices hurt.
How many of you can run out and buy a car that runs on something else? I
am sure many of you also have a car that is not paid off and also runs
on gas.
Drill here, if the market has more supply then there is less demand and
the speculators will see that as well and not bid it up.
It's simple economic sense and it will cripple the country if not dealt
with.

I am an independant and read these posts every day out of curiosity of
what people are saying. I rarely post, but I feel the need to at this
point because I am noticing a trend. Nearly every democratic post I read
is filled with name calling, emotion, and innuendo. Much of the rebuttal
of the Republican or conservatives are fact based and filled with logic.
It seems to me that if you let your emotions rule your world you are
liberal, if you let your logic rule your world you are conservative. Not
to mention the liberal posts seem to be much more ignorant and arrogant.
I would much rather live in a logical world than an emotional one. There

If you knew anything about economics you would understand that as prices
increase over a specific price, demand decreases. In the long run, if
prices stay high, you could lose your market to another product all
together. The oil companies want prices to be high enough to make a
profit, but not so high that it decreases demand. They also want to
limit competition from other energy (in this case) sources to keep their
market share. So in other words they want to bring prices down to the
point where the market for oil will reach equalibrium, that is the point
where they will make the most money for the longest time.

We shouldn't allow any oil company to take oil from OUR land unless all
the oil they bring up from OUR land is used IN our land. If we open up
the Alaskan or offshore areas to drilling there are currently no
restrictions on where the oil companies could sell the oil they produce.
They would sell OUR oil to China and India or any one else willing to
pay for the highest price they could get. The only way to get cheap gas
is to nationalize the oil companies so our government would control the
oil. I can't see any right-wing Republicans going for that idea, aren't
they all for privatization??????????? Isn't that what Venezuela did?? If
our goverment required restrictions on the oil leases that said any oil
from OUR land had to be used IN our land, the oil companies would not
even bid on the leases, they are, after all, for-profit companies. There
are no quick fixes to this problem, as much as we would like to see one.
The rest of the world has no sympathy for us, Europe has learned to live
with high energy costs for decades, we can too, but we're going to have
to quit whining about our situation and LEARN TO DO WTH LESS. We will
always need oil but we can never be independent of foreign oil AT THE
RATE AT WHICH WE HAVE BEEN WASTING IT. Welcome to the real world
economy, the one that everyone but us has had to learn how to deal with.
Our government has let us down, our automakers are behind the times, and
