RE: I am new to the area and my furnace in my house is pretty old. With the gas bills going through the roof, I would like to get it replaced. I would like to stay local if possible. What company do you recomend? I want a good furnace and also someone I can count on to come if it ever breaks down in the middle of the night. I am not looking for the cheapest company around. A good furnace,Quality work and honesty are most important to me. Thank you.

YELLOW PAGES ps I wonder which heating company wrote the question?

You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine. I personally like Soother's better. Not saying that California Tan isn't good.. I just prefer Soothers. Sorry to "bring it up again"...

11/30/07 (06)
I think there should be a community meeting regarding the sale or merge of the hospital. Why wait till it's all over then complain. You need input in this matter. Sick of all the rumors.

I Agree! Such a secrecy. How do you think all of the employees and their families are feeling listening to all of the rumors and being left in the dark for so long? The stress cannot be good for them. Someone should take their feelings into consideration and keep them informed on what is going on at all times whether it's good or bad or just a possibility? It's better than nothing!

Sure hope it's not true about banning High School games from Heinz field. Where will the Tigers play next year???

Re: Yeah, they'll just change everything so we all can read your comments. We're all dying with anticipation. So what are you saying, you wealth of knowledge diminishes as the day goes on. You made yourself sound really silly.

no, just my desire to say it.

I'm sure we are all missing out on so much. PLEASE, OH PLEASE tell us what your thinking at 7:00 in the morning. I tell you what. When you are awake and ready to tell the world your thoughts early in the morning, just get on this website and start typing away. Then when it is updated at 9:00 a.m., we can all read your comments and say hmmmmmmmmm, who is this brilliant person. They just have such a spectacular & dynamic insight to happenings in EC and the world it's breath taking, why doesn't this person have their own talk show.

Hard to believe that anyone would be fighting to hire relatives after seeing the grief that the  practice brought to Frank L. I thought that when the Ellwood school board passed that anti-nepotism policy that it was an ethical thing to do and that it removed the appearance of impropriety. They say that's why the state adopted such a policy. I guess that the people who are intent on hiring their relatives in our schools are not too concerned about either ethics or appearances. The only reason anyone would want to eliminate that policy is to be able to hire their OWN relatives. Does anyone really believe they are doing it because they care about YOUR relatives???????
You have to be amused by their tactics.

Joe Paterno. He wants to coach five more years. Why? I'm tired of older people staying around on their jobs too long because they don't like to stay at home and like to use their jobs as their social hang-out. There are very few cases where the senior citizen is actually still on top of their game and can work as well as a younger, more energetic co-worker. Yes, these few exist, but there are not many of them. Message to senior citizens: please move on, enjoy your twilight years, take a trip, go see long lost relatives and friends. Please don't hang around your work place and wear out your welcome. This kind of thing gives the sensible members of your outstanding generation a bad name. Move on!

So I recently heard some disturbing news...An older teacher at LHS was recently held up at gun point in LHS' parking lot while walking to her car after a meeting Tuesday night. Fortunately, the teacher was unharmed. It seems as though there has been an overabundance of robberies in the area lately, and now this, which is very disheartening to see. All I have to say is that, being a previous LHS student only a few years ago, I know how lax Lincoln's security is during the school day, and they should really step it up. I still have some friends in that school and God forbid anything ever happen. For starters, the secretaries could actually ask through the speakerphone outstide, who is buzzing in at the front doors (which is not visible to the secretaries except if they look at the cameras) before unlocking them, as I have heard they do many times.

You will have this sort of thing with the type of people coming to Ellwood. Cheaper taxes = More people like that! Be safe Y'all!!

For the local deer hunters:

I agree with you 100%. The PGC puts out propaganda that they want you to hear. For instance a vote was called to put the seer hunting seasons back the way they were. They said that only 6 or 9 counties in the state wanted it to go back to the way it was. They have admitted that Alt's plan will not work or would ever work, but they fail to make any changes. It was recently found out that the PGC is not controlling the deer heard in our state forests. The herds are set by the forestry people. They can have as many deer as they want or have 0 if they want. Since when did the ever give up power? Then they complain license sales are down...lol. The only way to combat these people is to quit buying a hunting license. I haven't bought one in 3 years after 30 consecutive years hunting. They ruined deer season and the herd. It is so fun hearing the first shot in the morning, only knowing someone is more than likely shooting at a doe. Also trying to get a deer to stop to count his horns is really fun. I say boycott the PGC, then they will have to listen to the hunters instead of lawmakers and insurance companies.

All good valid points...our state has more hunters per capita than any other state in the US. But we must also have the most "dumb" hunters as well! I don't understand the mentality of a majority of the hunter in this state. The Commission allows us all these tags, and the hunters buy them and kill the deer that they think they are entitled to because the state tells them this. Even if they don't use the meat. Lets get real here...what family really uses more than 2 deer for meat a year? I realize that there are some, but not the majority. This goes to show that a majority of our hunters are simply "kill happy" hunters who enjoy the thrill of the kill! It is a shame. I also know what you mean buy not buying a license, but I have children and what example am I setting to them by breaking the law? It is downright wrong and I can't do it. Therefore the best thing I can think to do is to revolt and spread the word for other hunters to do the same. We NEED to contact our local officials and officials in Harrisburg to make the appropriate changes before we lose this important state resource!!

I recommend Fotia's Heating and Cooling.

11/30/07 (22)
I think part of the reason so many students move away is because they are offered jobs if they move out of state. So maybe the better qualified ones are just going where the jobs are.

Re: 11/28/07 (29)
I agree with most of your post. I also have been hunting close to 30 years. I used to hunt in the "mountains" where it was not unusual to see 15 deer in a herd. This year my family and friends that hunted up there saw very little. I agree that the antler restrictions could be dropped, they don't seem to be doing anything but padding the pockets of the game commission and leaving illegal deer laying in the woods. I have an anterless license, but chose to let the 2 doe I saw Monday walk past me.
I don't think that the insurance companies will ever take the pressure off the legislators or the game commission enough to let the deer repopulate, although I would like to see it happen. The insurance companies want as many deer as possible killed. Hopefully the game commission will wake up and see what is happening before all the deer in Western PA are gone.

I do not pay my expensive school property taxes so the district school board can operate as an employment agency to hire relatives and save Ellwood City from disaster. I expect the district to hire the best people they can find. If you think that your son or daughter or other close relative is the best person for the job, don't run for school board. If the only way your relative can get hired in ECASD schools is if you are on the board, you're more worried about yourself than you are worried about our children's' education. You wonder why all of our young people are moving away??? It's because they didn't have a relative on the board to get them a job. If only relatives are going to get jobs, let the relatives pay all the taxes too!!!!!!!!

YOU act like ALL employees of EC are related to board members or once were related to board members! Well, get your facts straight. The district employs roughly 300 people. About 25% of them are originally from Ellwood and about 5% of that 25% were actually connected to someone who works in the district!! Take a good look at some of your surrounding communities and you will see nepotism much worse than it is here in EC. Be thankful that the district employs many good people. Not only are they highly qualified, but they are also caring, personable individuals that are in it for the right reasons, regardless of what the same 'ol tax paying, teacher bashing, Ellwood hermit says....Yeah, you know who you are!!

in regards to your comment, did anyone hear about the person trying to pick up kids over at north side, I guess it was in the newspaper but nothing was sent home to the parents, what about the parents who do not subscribe to the paper are we not privy to this information?? I don't think that this was handled the best that it could have been.

The Riverside Boosters are NOT buying the Riverside Midgets rings. They are asking for donations to buy the rings. These boys are so deserving of the rings, as they had an undefeated season this year. Each and everyone of them practiced and played their hearts out. They upset not only Aliquippa but Sto-Rox. So quit your moaning and groaning about the money, it is not coming out of your pocket. Now if there are some good hearted readers out there that want to contribute to the boys getting rings, I am sure the Boosters would really appreciate it. Have a nice Holiday season and remember it is better to give than receive.

Well since you felt it necessary to call me a moaner and a groaner, I feel absolutely justified in telling you I think you are absolutely INSANE and anyone who donates their hard earned money to help you purchase rings for a group of 12/13 year old boys is also INSANE! Are you planning to purchase them for the Cheerleaders as well? They are part of the team too, aren't they? Where does the madness end?!

11/30/07 (28)
This has been a long time coming but I would like to thank the person that returned my daughters soccer bracelet that was found on the nature trail this summer, it did not have a return address on the envelop so I could not send a thank you. She was very happy to see it again. Thank You.

Response to 11/29/07 (05)

I believe you were the one and only reply to my post but whatever, I could hardly care. I have no glory days of playing football that I need to relive. I just simply love the game. I have no children who even attend Riverside. I was complimenting a team that did very well against another team that was expected to blow them away. I do not believe players and parents from the Beaver Falls district read our little towns soundoff board so I did not feel it worth my time to write a good luck wish. Then you appeared and so be it, I'll make you happy and write the well wishes. Now you want to try and attack something else, and tomorrow it will be something else. Have fun with that!

Well 11/21/07 (07), 11/26/(29), and 11/27/07 (14) are responded to your comments, not just me.

And you didn't just wish the Riverside football team congratulations for an excellent season (which they had), you tried to diminish Beaver Falls efforts in the process. And then you referred to my "simple little mind." when explaining the term "on paper."

So you can rewrite history any way you want either through declaring victory or in interpreting what you really meant, your poor sportsmanship is evident in far too many adults. Enjoy the game, accept the results, and congratulate the winners and losers on their efforts. That is what youth sports should be about.

11/30/07 (30)
Thanks for turkey tips, Mr. TD. I referred to your list often.

Also, I am not sure about Jerry O making your list of all-time best Steelers. All-time hottest Steelers then he would be right at the top.

Happy Holidays, TD!!

Does anyone know where to get rid of a gas tank from a grill?

If it's an old tank, and you just want a new one, take it to 7-11 and they'll give you a brand new full tank for about $18. All you pay for is the propane.

If you just want it gone, someone will probably take it for that purpose.

John Wayne

11/30/07 (32)
To the poster that wants all the kids to play ¼ of the game….
The backbone of any sport is the competition. It is more worthwhile and meaningful if these positions and that playing time is earned rather than simply handed out. Sportsmanship and teamwork, those are things that are instilled as being part of the team, not by how much playing time you get.
Welcome to the wide world of sports.

What's next? Each kid gets a Mercedes Benz? True, they won the league championship of a midget football league. What is wrong with them getting a jacket for that? That would be appropriate. But Rings? They didn't win the super bowl! Next you will want rings with diamonds in them!

11/30/07 (34)
Instead of griping about when this stuff get posted, perhaps we should all thank the person or persons, who take the time to put up with all this bs. I personally thank whomever it is, and appreciate that anyone does it at all. It gives us all a chance to have our say, to vent when we need to, and to catch up on things that are happening. Whenever YOU have the time to get it done is fine for me, be it 9 in the morning or 11 at night. You aren't here to serve us, and you are certainly entititled to a life like the rest of us. Again, I say THANK YOU, your work IS appreciated.

11/30/07 (35)
To the person looking to replace their furnace. We used Central Heating & Plumbing (out of New Castle) and are very pleased. Our furnace broke a few days before Christmas and it was very cold. The new furnace was installed the next day. Once we were ready for central air, they were the only company we called!! We haven't had a need for a service call, but they are prompt for "check up" calls.

I would like to see a law passed where if taxes is used to pay for a sport every one gets to play 1/4 game whether its school or summer sports...yes its about winning but all those kids that don't get to play still works as hard as those that play
its supposed to teach sportsmanship and teamship but how can it when only a few play...its time for a change

Have you ever seen the movie the Incredible? The villain has a great line, "If everyone is special, than nobody is."

Why should coaches reward a kid with playing time? To make the kid feel good?

Who cares about the feelings; let's have these kids compete.

Too many people in this country believe the crap from the original post. Our country wants to feel good instead of taking care of business being the best. I'm out!

11/30/07 (37)
I do not believe players and parents from the Beaver Falls district read our little towns soundoff board so I did not feel it worth my time to write a good luck wish.

so you think that no one from beaver falls or any of the other surrounding school districts read soundoff ? well did it ever occur to you that people from Ellwood and riverside do grow up and marry and move away... you can look at riverside and shenango especially over the last 20 years and you will see Ellwood roots on all their rosters. same goes for new castle. their offspring are spread out all over Lawrence county. Wilmington and shenango especially are filled with ex new castle stars kids... same with riverside, they would never have accomplished what they have if not for Ellwood's offspring !!

11/30/07 (38)
To all the frightened wolverine fans... I'm tired of hearing all the whineing from you all! The fact is your jealous of the entire panther sports program! Ellwood athletes just don't have the work ethic to become good anymore! Evidence of this is the fact your boys basketball team has no seniors come out this year!

11/30/07 (39)
The Riverside Boosters are NOT buying the Riverside Midgets rings. They are asking for donations to buy the rings. These boys are so deserving of the rings, ""as they had an undefeated season this year""'

I heard that Ellwood shut them out in an exhibition game and dominated them pretty good and then put in all their subs at the end and riverside scored and won ! is this true ?

This is a big joke. Come on don't you think the police have better things to do....

Regarding this issue. The police didn't go to her house, a State Constable did. Nicole DID NOT pay for this fine out of her children's Christmas money, her sister from Wampum did. She was NOT one month late on her fine. She was THREE months late. She was sent many notices and received many phone calls from the magistrates office to come in and catch up on her payments. She took it upon herself NOT to take heed to the warnings. How do I know this, I went to the magistrates office and the girls there were more than happy to share the file with me. You see my fellow ellwoodians, this is all public record. And if the the Ellwood Ledger would have asked the right questions, he would have gotten the story right instead of trying to make that office look bad.

Well said...there is nothing wrong with taking care of our own, as long as they are the most qualified candidates for the positions they are trying to acquire. THAT is where the problem sometimes lies! They at least DESERVE that chance.

11/29/07 (05)
Well thank you, for explaining the term "On paper" to me.

To me, "On paper" sounds like "sour grapes" from a person who can not let his glory days of youth football go. So he has to justify a great effort by the Riverside football team, and turn it into a victory for himself to make up for the shortcomings of his adulthood.

And amazingly in your original post, you did not wish Beaver Falls well. It was only after I and others called you out on your post that you wished them well.

I believe you were the one and only reply to my post but whatever, I could hardly care. I have no glory days of playing football that I need to relive. I just simply love the game. No more comments until there is more updated news?? Why don't we eliminate the Riverside/Ellwood comments as well until they play football again? Why not eliminate the School board discussion until we have new members?

I appreciate the fact that there is a community website that allows everyone to advertise, promote and "sound off". I do understand that there is allot of work and dedication to maintain the site as a moderator. I also understand that there is a need to ensure the posts do not bash individuals by name or get out of hand by being rude or obnoxious, but to cut out an active discussion regarding a topic that is not causing any harm? Asking that they be moved to a different forum would be acceptable, but to eliminate?

Please rethink this strategy because if this is not a forum that we can truely sound off to our peers, then maybe this forum should be renamed to: Sound off - if you can... without being deleted

11/29/07 (08)
What is dividing your community you ask. Now, let's be honest and fair about this. The hard-working EMPLOYED taxpayers are being hit and hit hard in the pocketbook. The adage is now, "the poor get richer and the working middle-class and rich get poorer." It is no longer that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. And if the rich do get richer more power to them. They are the ones that worked hard, got plenty of schooling to get where they are. We workers are sick and tired of footing the bill and this is not only in Ellwood, but in the nation as a whole. People are starting to revolt. And it is starting to show and people will revolt even more after the dems take over the presidency, the congress and the house and you can take that to the bank. There is a powerful organization out there (Fire Society). They were instrumental in knocking down the last Illegal Immigration Amensty Bill. Log into Grassroots.com or FireSociety.com and get involved.

I have a question. Does the borough issue fines to rude neighbors who don't rake their leaves??

They should if they don't, this neglect makes our community look very bad.

GET A FRIGGIN LIFE!!  Maybe your neighbor is very busy, or maybe is physically unable to rake leaves. If they are bothering you so much, why don't you walk yourself over and ask if you can clean them up?! Maybe the neighbor will even pay you for your kind gesture! I promise I wont tell them about your stupid post on soundoff!

I have heard rumor so Im asking the one place I know has all the facts. *cough cough*

Mind your own business! Its my money and I will buy my child anything I want.

Beaver Falls Tigers are humbled. As they should be,they got their butts kicked. But THEY did make it to Heinz field,as they will next year,no doubt about it. Hold your heads up guys.(Hey,maybe they only lost on paper)heh heh

NO They lost big time on both paper and the field! hahaha! Actually I think I saw them using the paper to dry their eyes. Poor poor fellas, I feel so bad for them. :~( Or maybe not. :)
I hear there is a big push to have High School games banned from Heinz Field. Wouldn't that be worth two or three days of discussion on soundoff?!

Are fallen leaves really a nuisance or an eyesore? I just don't think that is in the same category as garbage or junk.

If an anti-nepotism policy puts a lot of our HOMETOWN (I guess you think that Ellwood City is the only town in our school district) candidates at a disadvantage, I must assume those applicants would not be hired at all unless they have a relative on the school board. What really puts ALL candidates at a disadvantage(and all of our children) is when there is no policy and the school board hires relatives regardless of qualifications. The only people wishing to do away with the anti-nepotism policy are relatives of politicians who want to pay off some political debts. Jobs were promised to individuals to get people elected, and now they want to reward those backers, at the expense of our childrens education and our hard-earned tax dollars. Your child could be the best qualified candidate available, but if a school board members' relative is in line, they can forget it. If the school board repeals the anti-nepotism policy, you won't see many truly qualified applicants coming to ECASD, they'll know they don't have a chance. If you think a return of the past practice of hiring relatives is going to save poor old Ellwood, forget it. It's only going to speed up the decline.

I do not pay my expensive school property taxes so the district school board can operate as an employment agency to hire relatives and save Ellwood City from disaster. I expect the district to hire the best people they can find. If you think that your son or daughter or other close relative is the best person for the job, don't run for school board. If the only way your relative can get hired in ECASD schools is if you are on the board, you're more worried about yourself than you are worried about our childrens' education. You wonder why all of our young people are moving away??? It's because they didn't have a relative on the board to get them a job. If only relatives are going to get jobs, let the relatives pay all the taxes too!!!!!!!!

Soother Tan is the best.. I will not go anywhere else! The prices are reasonable, too!!

HERE WE GO AGAIN. CALIFORNIA TANNING IS THE BEST PLACE TO TAN. THE BULBS ARE THE BEST.

I am sure that this will not get posted for one reason or another but if one person can say they like a tanning place then I think my opinion should be on here also.

11/29/07 (23)
Compliments go out to California Tan. I have been to other local tanning salons where they have unlimited tanning and I did not get dark there going everyday. When I went back to California tan I got so dark.

I would just like to tell everyone to stay safe in Ellwood and to not go places alone. After the incident with the teacher from Lincoln, I think we should all be more cautious about where we go and with who.

We have a nice 7 foot green artificial tree that had problems at the bottom, branches not staying in place. If someone would like it, they may have it for free plus the stand. If you cut off maybe a foot from the trunk, it should be able to be used ok.
Put information on elloodcity.org and I will call or e-mail you.

This is a different Christmas poem, sent from one of our servicemen in Iraq. We have so much to be thankful for, instead of fretting so much about the little things in life. Food for thought....

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.

Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.

My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.

My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!

Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,

I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."

My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole wit h little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..

Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."
"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."

"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.

For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

re 11-28 - 21 think about that the next time you cross dress,

(11-27 - 32) get your book on the pager read the directions, anybody can change the crystal. if you have no book return the pager. to the person who responded to the library theft, should some crimes be overlooked because they are of a lesser nature. like If you only run a red light, well thats not like you were driving drunk,so just forget about it,

I think there should be a community meeting regarding the sale or merge of the hospital. Why wait till it's all over then complain. You need input in this matter. Sick of all the rumors.

Does anyone know where to get rid of a gas tank from a grill?

11/29/07 (33)
I am new to the area and my furnace in my house is pretty old. Thank you.

#27: Thanks- well said!

I was thinking of the old Jeff Foxworthy line. You might be from Ellwood City if...

Your kid smokes at 14 and you say you have to be quiet because he's an adult.
Your kid missed 30 days of school so far this year and it's the teachers' fault.
You're jealous that a police dog gets to ride in the squad car instead of you.
You think cutting up somebody else is constructive criticism as long as it doesn't involve too much spelling.
As I write this I am thinking of all the really nice people from this town who can laugh and not be mean. Alot of people avoid saying how they feel as they don't want to be debated over nothing. Let's work on getting the town together - less drop outs, crime, and drugs.

11/29/07 (35)
If it is true that there is a local board member serving a school board for which he/she does not reside, then this should be investigated. This is an abuse of the political system. What a shock!

11/29/07 (36)
To the person looking for a 1954 Ellwoodian: the Lincoln High School library has a collection of Ellwoodians. A phone call to the school library might answer your question. If not, perhaps you could arrange a time to view the books. Also, Ellwoodians pop up frequently for sale on Ebay. You can set your preferences to have Ebay send you an email when they are listed.

You know, at first I thought I was all for the anti nepotism policy, but the more I think about it, it really does put the vast majority of hometown candidates at a HUGE disadvantage. We b*$ch and moan about the lack of young professional families in the area, but this community really does spew a ton of hateful vitriol on anyone who tries to gets ahead, tries to be involved, suceeds. It's like a cancer! You should care, but not TOO MUCH. Make money so your kids can have more than you, but not TOO MUCH more. I love Ellwood City passionately, but it is so easy to see why a great many people (25-40) choose to roost elsewhere, places where ambition is smiled upon and encouraged, without the fear, perhaps, of being anonymously slammed on a web forum, or becoming the fodder for the school mom rumor grist mill. Young professional families WANt to raise their children in a place like this! We should hire the most qualified individuals, be they from Peoria or good old EC, to work in our schools, our borough, our hospital, and our industries, and then.....leave them the &*%$ alone to prosper here!!!!!!! If we don't, they will choose the anonymous lifestyle of the Noth Hills (insert any other high growth area here) everytime.

Ellwood has become like a ball of pit vipers. And we are biting ourselves firmly in the @$$.

Blast away :)

the prblem is the most qualifies person always happened to be a relative because qualified people do not aply because they know they have no chance
