I too have not really paid too much attention to the situation involving
our mayor and police chief, but after reading the papers since Sunday’s
Post Gazette article, I am truly appalled at what I am reading! As
lifelong resident of Ellwood City, I have always has great pride in our
town, and will defend it to the core, but now I can't even do that. I am
30 years old, and I was raised in this town and I feel I am part of new
generation that accepts all people...I am not old school, and we do not
need an admitted "old school" mayor running our town. “Old School” does
not permit ignorance! To think he said that we use the "N" word here is
ridiculous! I know that there are good people in this town that have
values...I hope this situation gets resolved...it's 2008!

Re: your daughter, As a mother I would consider having the "Bachelorette"

even think about filming a movie about your daughter.

For what reason would LHS have a fire drill during 1st period Weds.

I humbly ask we take time out of our day Friday to remember all our
personal family members & friends that are no longer with us but are now
watching over us, and thank them for the illustrations of life given to
all of us, and for knowing what part is to remain sacred and which not
to ever allow "history" within our own family to repeat in a destructive
manner. Pray to St. Nicholas for the joys & abundance to return into our
lives , being able to replace "Happy New you" for the old Happy new
year....until WE change our way there will never be a happy new year to
celebrate and or depend on, just within self will change your wearing of
"Rosy glasses". Reality check will make & keep us happy and unite for
the hope of a new way of life here...

Mr. TD -- your movie list is quite diverse. Rarely does a common list of
favorites include a classic like Casablance along with Weekend at
Bernies. My daughter just filed for divorce (she's originally from
Riverside but had left the area) and she is moving back home once the
dust settles. Would you be willing to take her out? She is 34 years old

Wierd Pennsylvania Headline: Man Shoots Trespassing Cows
This is a perfect example of someone with too much time on his hands,
too many weapons in his house, and more anger management issues that we
can measure at this blog.
ELLWOOD CITY -- State police are investigating whether animal cruelty
charges should be filed against a man who shot several cows, two of
which later died, because they wandered onto his property.
"I shot them because it's my legal right to shoot them because they were
destroying my property," Dennis McElwain of Perry Township told the New
Castle News.
State police said this week they are investigating the Jan. 7 shooting
as animal cruelty incident. No charges have been filed.
McElwain said he fired a .357 caliber handgun at the cattle, which had
damaged his yard several times over the past few years.
"I wouldn't have minded if it was once or twice a year they got out,"
McElwain said. "I would have helped get them back in. But it was four of
five days a week."
Three cows were shot but managed to walk home, said Herman Stafford,
co-owner of the cattle.
"I had to shoot two to put them out of their misery," Stafford said.
"One was shot in the throat, blew out her windpipe. The other had its
back leg blown off from the knee down and the third was shot in the
hoof."
All three cows were pregnant.
Stafford said he is determining his losses and has contacted an
attorney.
Hunters likely left the gate to the pasture open in early December, he
said. The gate now is padlocked.

this is really getting out of hand with the chief and the mayor. i think
they both need to start to work together and fix these problems. lets
face it, Clyde is not going to resign. he stated that. the chief, and
yes i said chief is going to move on with his new title. i totally
understand that the mayor has so called powers over the police
department but lets get real, he has no law enforcement training. and i
know i am going to get hammered on this because the chief has no state
number, but from what i have read and seen he is the one ellwood should
have to run the police department. look at his qualifications. i think
that says it all. does the mayor in other cities actually have day to
day control over the police departments? of course not. they reccomend
to the chief and go from there. i do not want a untrained person running
our police dept. wheather it is clyde or archie bunker. the mayor should
step back and let "OUR" city try to run in a positive direction for
once. i do not know any of these men, just to see them, but lets get
real. we are the laughing stock of Pa. and I thought perry twp was bad,
yea right!

Mr. McDonald was hired as Chief of Police. Our council made a great
error when writing his contract not to include the provision if he could
not obtain his police certification number he would be not longer be
employed by the Boro of EC. We are paying the individual a great salary,
enourmous pension, and other fringe benefits to be an administrator of
the police dept. He can not make arrest, he can not interogate
individuals, etc, etc,etc...........
As far as hailing him for all the drug arrests, cleaning up the streets,
solving cases, etc, etc, ect.....well these things do not happen over
night. Drug case take months and months to make arrests....he can not
even investigate our guys who have been there for years are doing the
work. Yes, I have meet Mr. McDonald and yes he is a very nice man but
this is not what Ellwood City hired. He should be given time frames for
filing his appeal (if it has not already been filed) and I believe there
would be a response to his appeal within 6 mo to a year. Ellwood City
can not afford and does not need an administrator we need a working
Chief of Police. I feel Mr. McDonald's contract should be published in
the paper for all the citizens of Ellwood City to see and know how their
tax dollars are being used. I have nothing against Mr. McDonald but if
he is not doing the job he was hired for then he should be let go or
resign. Think about it ....if you were hired for a particular job and
later your boss found out you could not do that job would you still be
employed?

Why do the people ignore the fact that council has hired two different
police chiefs who were not what they were supposed to be ? They wanted
the mayor to swear the last chief in, even though it would have been
illegal, since he didn't have a certification number. And why didn't the
chief tell them he didn't have that number when he applied? It is easier
for council to put the blame for all the headaches on the mayor, so
people won't realize what blunders they have caused

In reference to #21 on 01/30/2008-according to the Administrative Office
of Pennsylvania Courts website the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court
handles appeals of government entities/agencies. Since it seems like the
state police training commission would be a government entity that
denied McDonald his police number, I believe that would qualify as the
proper place to file an appeal. Perhaps you know something the rest of
us don’t and you could enlighten us!

my son had a terrific baseball coach in Bill Brandt. All the kids played
and all the kids sat out some innings, including Bill's own son. The
boys learned the fundamentals and sportmanship but most of all they had
a great time. In the next years his coaches had no sons on the teams but
instead swore and generally set a poor example. It just depends on the
person. Besides analyzing the coaches we also should look at the parents
watching the games. Oftentimes their behavior is totally out of line.
Ellwood City sports is not the Major Leagues. Let the kids get their
exercise and have a good time and if a coach can't behave like
appropriately, the commission should ask him to resign.
01/31/08
(45)
I have a great idea for all those who oppose parents coaching, then you
volunteer to coach. I am a coach and would gladly sit in my lawn chair
and watch my child play rather than spending the countless hours and
money that it takes to be a coach. Everyone is an expert yet no one has
time. It maybe that the coaches children play more because their mother
or father, who is willing to put in the extra time for a whole team, has
done the same thing with their child.
I agree that there are some problems with unfair treatment in youth
sports, but I can tell you from personal experience that you can't just
sit back and complain to other people or on sound off. Go to the coach
first then to those in charge of the league. If you get no results GET
INVOLVED! It works best to make changes from the inside.

Mayor Clyde needs to resign immediately, so council can appoint their
man already. C.O.O. McDonald needs to resign also. I say why waste him
as acting police chief. There is a qualified officer ready for that
position. I'd like to see the acting chief run for state rep or possibly
even go after Jason Altmire's seat. The support he has garnered from the
people in Ellwood City has been fantastic.Furthermore, what he has done
in eight months is unbelievable and unprecedented.I think with our help
the 'sky' is the limit in regards to the difference WE can make
together. Ellwood City, we taken great men and women for granted before,
let's not do it again. Please,For the love of this town, let's not do it

Ellwood City Revitalization and EG&G Consultants are holding a Town Hall
Meeting Tues Feb. 5th at 6:30 pm. Meeting will take place at the SOI and
everyone in Town and the surrounding Ellwood City Area that cares about
the Future of our town should be there. Your input is vital, be there to
tell us what you want to see happen in our town. Snow date is Feb 12th.
Spread the word!!
This is so great! I'm so glad that we are finally taking steps to
revitalize Ellwood. They said to bring any and all ideas to the meeting,
no matter how "impossible" they seem. Hopefully there is a major turnout
at this meeting. Remember, this is OUR town. Let's help give it a
face-lift!

If parents want to coach they should not be allowed to coach their own
children. You will then see who is there for all the kids in general, or
who is there to promote their own child. Unfortunately, parents coaching
in general, is a bad idea because of the clique factor.
Parents coaching in general is a bad idea? That has become the typical
excuse of parents and I find it downright comical. There have been many
posts on this site for the past several years about this topic and it
all comes down to parents thinking their kids are better than they
really are. I do not know any coach (parent or not) who gives their free
time to lose. With that being said, the best kids play. If it happens to
be the coaches child then so be it. Are there some coaches who are out
only for their child? I am sure there are. Just like there are doctors
who are alcoholics and perform surgeries while drunk. Just like there
are immoral politicians. Just like ther are crooked attorneys and
policeman. But please do not insult all of the parent/coaches who give
of themselves for not only their child but all of the children in this
community.
If a parent coaching his own kid is a bad idea then think about the
youth organizations that wouldn't have enough help with out parents
helping. Maybe the parents just shouldn't be the head coaches.I don't
know the name of the man who coached the Riverside midget football team
this year but i heard he didn't have any kids on the team and the
Riverside midget team won the championship this year. Food for thought.

AGAIN in regards to baby gavin t-shirts they were donated and printed at
T-Time. Tony did a wonderful job on them. He had a death in the family
and was not able to make any shirts for a few days. I think people need
to get their facts straight before writing wrong information on this
site. Who ever this Barbara Franus Osborne is, she hurt the reputation
of a business that so generously donated shirts for a great cause. Once
again her facts were incorrect where alot of the community reads. T-Time
is doing shirts. If she isn't family why is she putting posts on this
site??????? Just a thought..

How about this one??
3 boys (all on the basketball team) wanted to help with the little
girl's basketball team one year - help coach the girls.
Do you know why they were not allowed?
1 boy had a sister on the team and he would play her all the time.
But yet, the coaches had daughters on the team and guess who got to play
all the time??
Yes some parents who coach do play fair but then there are those who
play their child all the time and probably because they don't want
to hear them "whine", "why can't I play"? And this also happens with
parents - complaining to the coaches "why can't my child play?" So guess
who gets to play because the coaches don't want to hear it Or they are
good friends and feel they need to play their child.
Most of the players never get a chance to prove themselves. How can you
tell if a player is going to be a good player if that player gets a few
seconds here and there?? I don't think you can tell. Do you?

It was not meant to be derogatory toward him in any way, shape or form,"
Mr. Clyde said last week, adding that Mr. McDonald laughed and said he
had been around police departments and heard the word before. Mr.
McDonald denies that he laughed or said anything of the sort.
As for use of the word, Mr. Clyde said, "it possibly can be [a racist
term] but not really. I'm from the old school. It was a word that was
commonly used when I grew up. It referred mostly to all blacks and it
didn't mean good [or] bad.
"I was making him aware that should he be in the other room and overhear
it that it's not meant toward him," he said. "I was trying to make him
feel at home, to be a nice guy."
So thats the great Mayor of Ellwood City...it makes my point exactly..
we dont need OLD SCHOOL people trying to run the town.. we need someone
who is young, open minded... and has a real sense of reality. I am
truely sorry for Chief McDonald, and I hope he realizes the majority of
the Ellwood Community are not racist old men who dont realize this is
the year 2008. I am am embarrassed for the Clyde family, and hope this
will open your eyes to the Mayors need to leave office now, please
encourage him.

from ECPD news release)
Ellwood City Police Department will begin aggressive driving enforcement
under the Smooth Operator Initiative Grant. Primary enforcement will
occur on predetermined Smooth Operator targeted roadways and any feeder
roadway of the predetermined roadways. Motorists are warned that a zero
tolerance policy will be in effect. Focus will be on speeding and other
moving violations associated with aggressive driving, along with
secondary violations such as seatbelts and equipment violations. The
first wave by Ellwood City Police will start this week and last thru
March 15. Ellwood City PD will be using VASCAR, ESP, and ACUTRAC speed
timing devices to enforce speeding along the predetermined corridors.
I say... lets put this up for referendum/vote. Does this make anyone
feel safer or would you rather have police concentrate on the drug
problem? Of course, its not about keeping us safer, its about money and
tickets are big business.
This is despicable, I say get rid of the council, the police force and
the mayor. I have never interacted with any of them and have never
missed a cold glass of water.

I feel quite confident Chief McDonald will carry this community to the
next level, within "Law Enforcement" and through future acts, "Chief
Administrator" posed to Chief over the police is more appropriate for
Chief McDonald's position in Ellwood City. Most of these issues occurred
before and or during his entrance into Ellwood City. Remaining within
this position, there is a higher level of command, that is playing out
for Chief McDonald. We, have taken him into our community with respect,
but we need to give him the respect in a timely element. Resolving
issues in an area just as Ellwood City has become very impossible at
time for all of us. I, ask that the Chief be given time to get to know
us from a different angle, and not to display him within the elements of
this community, I, respect him totally for challenging to update our Law
Enforcement within our community. Hopefully, Chief McDonald will no
longer be view as the community's split decision on who stays and who
goes....I't over, and there are alot of scars that will remain with all
of us, we have to remember what we were fighting for when he arrived
"Unity within our Hometown" and this is the person that has been sent
here. Through all of this ? to do a job, give him the respect he
deserves not only for being Quote a great person, when the laws within
our community change due to stricter law enforcement needed, remember
that whatever actions he see fit, no one should at that time view it and
or personal.....Lets get back what we have lost of "Faith"

How embarassing that our town has been in the news for such terrible
reasons. The leader of our community, the mayor, should be seeing to it
that we are at the forefront for POSITIVE reasons. Instead, because of
him and his liberal use of an ugly racial slur, we are in the news for
negativity. I pray that our chief of police operations stays with us. We

Okay-I checked with the State Courts and no appeal has been filed by Mr.
McDonald?? Maybe the lady that checked the Mayor’s cell phone bills can
check these records and find out what the truth is about the appeal? If
he was denied his police certification number in October wouldn’t Mr.
McDonald have filed an appeal by now?
Hey what makes you think it was filed in any court? they didn't
make the call.

GRANDMA'S HANDS
Grandma, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench.
She didn't move, just sat with her head down staring at her hands.
When I sat down beside her she didn't acknowledge my presence and the
longer I sat I wondered if she was OK.
Finally, not really wanting to disturb her but wanting to check on her
at the same time, I asked her if she was OK. She raised her head and
looked at me and smiled. "Yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking," she
said in a clear voice strong.
"I didn't mean to disturb you, grandma, but you were just sitting here
staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were OK," I
explained to her.
"Have you ever looked at your hands," she asked. "I mean really
looked at your hands?"
I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them
over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really
looked at
my hands as I tried to figure out the point she was making.
Grandma smiled and related this story:
"Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have
served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled
shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to
reach out and grab and embrace life.
"They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the
floor.
They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. As a child, my
mother taught me to fold them in prayer. They tied my shoes and pulled
on my boots. They held my husband and wiped my tears when he went off
to war.
"They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent. They were
uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn son. Decorated
with my wedding band they showed the world that I was married and loved
someone
special.
They wrote my letters to him and trembled and shook when I
buried my parents and spouse.
"They have held my children and grandchildren, consoled neighbors, and
shook in fists of anger when I didn't understand.
They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the
rest of my body. They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken, dried
and raw. And to this day when not much of anything else of me works
real well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to
fold in prayer. "These hands are the mark of where I've been and the
ruggedness of life.
But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out
and take when he leads me home. And with my hands He will lift me to
His side and there I will use these hands to touch the face of
Christ."
I will never look at my hands the same again. But I remember God
reached out and took my grandma's hands and led her home.
When my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke the face of my
children and husband I think of grandma. I know she has been stroked and
caressed and held by the hands of God.
I, too, want to touch the face of God and feel His hands upon my
face.

Why are people allowed to collect SSI. for there Children?
Are they not responsible for there own Children?
A Disabled adult has a hard time getting SSI
to help them with there bills and medical expenses
but some one can walk right in and get it for there kids who don't have
responsibilities.
My child was born with CP. My child was a few months premature. That was
not my fault or my childs fault.. But my child does recieve SSI. At the
age of 5 we have been making trips to childrens hospital in pittsburgh 2
times a week. for the past 6 months and also a total of 10 surgeries and
there is still more to come. I am a full time working single mother with
more other children also thank God i have help to watch my children so i
dont have to worry if there in good hands with others.
Do you know what its like to have a child that cant tie his shoes?
button or snap a pair of pants?
Do you know what it like to have a child who wants to be able to run and
play with the other children and cant. Do you know how it feels to have
you heart break knowing theres nothing you can do to be able to give him
the chance to run and play? Do you know what its like to sit through 10
surgeries some taking up to 6 hours praying your child is going to be
ok?
I do take care of my child and no im not in the system. I do get child
support from his father who never sees him.. I would never "place" my
child so i didnt have to deal with it. So yes i recieve SSI for him. But
that goes for exactly what it is need for and that would be his care and
yes if he wants something then yes it goes for that.. and god forgive me
if i spend 5 of it to get a drink or something to munch on while im
awaitin his surgery.. You must be a person who has a healthy child that
can run play and do the things they like without even thinking twice..
Maybe you should trade places with a mother that has a special needs
child. YOU WOULDNT LAST A MINUTE...

If parents weren't permitted to coach their own children, there would be
no coaches. What would that say about me as a parent if I invested 2
hours a night, 5 nights a week and a big chunk of my Saturdays to coach
a team that my child wasn't even on. Should I be coaching a level up or
down from my child because there are parents out there that don't want
to make the time to be involved but complain about everything and
anything that is done within a sport? Honestly, we should all continue
to remember that no one gets paid for coaching any youth sport. These
are men and women that volunteer what little free time they have and
devote it to not only their own children but to every other child on
that team and they all do the best that they can. In an age where a vast
number of parents are selfish and uninvolved, I would think we would be
applauding and thanking these people, not offering our critque every
chance we get. To suggest that we do this to "promote our own children"
is insulting and ridiculous. Perhaps, we do it to instill sportsmanship,
character, and love of the game. Perhaps we do it to give them a hobby
and a passion so that they are not the unfortunate kids with nothing
better to do than hang out in the streets of Ellwood as teens and then
have people bad mouth them on soundoff. And maybe, just maybe, we
believe that every child should have that opportunity and that's why we
coach. Please think before you make criticizing comments about anyone
gives their time to the kids.
Very well stated! I do have another to add. I do it to help build self
confidence in young ladies. When they believe in themselves they quickly
learn there isn't much they cannot accomplish. Confident young ladies
are less likely to drink and smoke underage. They are less likely to be
a victom of date rape or become pregnant at a young age. They are more
likely to be successful in their adult lives. That is why I do it.

My point exactly! He may be a good, honest, hardworking man but he
cannot serve the job he was hired to do. People please do not allow
council to fool you, they created his new position to cover the fact
that they rushed in and hired a person unable to fill the position. Mr.
Wayne is correct when he writes "anything he does will end up in a
lawsuit against Ellwood". You don't believe it, just wait and see. It
wont take long at all.

I rarely ever post a comment. I actually just enjoy reading soundoff -
it is like my daily comics. However, all this fuss over the mayor looks
bad on the mayor. I feel as concerned taxpayers we have rights to know
all of what is going on. The lady that looked at the cell phone records
did an awesome thing. Instead of all bashing council, everyone should be
bashing the mayor right now. As of Monday he didn't turn the cell phone
in although council disconnected it. Also -- shouldn't we all be
questioning why the mayor was using it for personal calls. If he has no
home phone - as he clearly stated -- why should he be using borough
property to make his personal calls. The cell phone is for business use
and he should have respected that. To have no home phone or any other
way of contacting him, how can this man be a mayor at all? Interesting
-- that is a thought I throw out to you all. You want a mayor that is
available -- and if he has no way of being contacted through a telephone
- how do you get ahold of him?

What do you mean by "the old Frisco bridge" I have no clue what bridge
your talking about. Is that the bride that's goes up over the railroad
tracks
on RT. 65 by State Farm?
no, if you turn left at the redlight on hillside and 2nd st and go
around the old national plumbing "little italy" go down the hill towards
the creek and there used to be a bridge there. it was tore down and
replaced by the new highway going from ellwood to giant eagle.

Regarding #14, 1-28-08
Do your homework and get your facts straight before making any comments
on these positions. The parks position is part-time with no high paying
salary. I walk the park and observed the "manager" doing manual labor
work. The parks have shown great improvement over the past two years. As
far as the police chief he most definitely deserves his salary.

Thank you so much for expanding on my points about SSI not covering

) in the online version of the Ellwood City Ledger today. I think this
just may be what the doctor ordered!
Mr. Poole suggests "Instead of circulating more petitions, Ellwood City
residents should bury the Municipal Police Officers Education and
Training Commission in letters demanding that it either certify McDonald
or provide a good reason why it won't.
Better yet, drop a letter to Gov. Edward Rendell's office. If Maj. John
Gallagher, the commission's executive director, gets a bunch of notes
from us, it might have no effect. But a phone call from the office of
Rendell - Gallagher's boss - is another thing.
The commission's address is 8002 Bretz Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17112 and
the fax number is (717) 346-7782. Rendell's address is 225 Main Capitol
Building, Harrisburg PA, 17120."

Oh, for heaven's sake. Keep the drama to a minimum here. Isn't there

focused on Gavin's well being. No need to ever question that. There is
enough love and support to go around to everyone involved if everyone
sticks together and isn't that what will make all the difference. One

If parents want to coach they should not be allowed to coach their own
children. You will then see who is there for all the kids in general, or
who is there to promote their own child. Unfortunately, parents coaching
in general, is a bad idea because of the clique factor.
Parents coaching in general is a bad idea? That
has become the typical excuse of parents and I find it downright
comical. There have been many posts on this site for the past several
years about this topic and it all comes down to parents thinking their
kids are better than they really are. I do not know any coach (parent or
not) who gives their free time to lose. With that being said, the best
kids play. If it happens to be the coaches child then so be it. Are
there some coaches who are out only for their child? I am sure there
are. Just like there are doctors who are alcoholics and perform
surgeries while drunk. Just like there are immoral politicians. Just
like ther are crooked attorneys and policeman. But please do not insult
all of the parent/coaches who give of themselves for not only their
child but all of the children in this community.

It's about time people are starting to comment and recognize what is
going on with our City Council. They spend all this time investigating
ridiculous cell phone records and they are ignoring the real problems
going on. Meanwhile, we still have a major drug problem. We still have
alot of crime going on in this town. This town has some serious
problems...much worse than some cell phone problems. I as a citizen of
Ellwood would like to demand they stop wasting my tax dollars and start
doing the job they were elected for!
All this bickering is ridiculous. Please grow up and do your jobs! It's
a retaliation toward the mayor. As I recall, the Mayor is the one who
was responsible for getting alot of these major drug busts underway. He
didn't sit around wasting his time..he actually worked. That I cannot
say about council.
Please council..put this to rest and start paying attention to the real
problems in this city...Please, I have children...I would like a safe
community for my children to grow up in.

"Give you the finger"?? What kind of role model is that? I think this is

what an embarrassment to our town. i really havent played close
attention to this situation because theres always been little tiffs
involving mayors in ellwood but when i saw this i couldnt believe what i
was reading. i cannot believe that if this story is true that the
ellwood council has not fired mayor clyde. in any work place across
america from management down to the broom pushers, would be fired for
saying the things mayor clyde said. how many sports announcers have been
fired for far far less. its time now for the council to step up to the
plate and fire him and take this shame away from ellwood city.

To 1/28--no 42---Just
because I said cracking them on their miserable little a---s, it isn't
any different then you saying swatting them on the butt. In fact, the
more you wrote, the less sense you made. My kids are grown, and they are
confident, kind, non-violent, productive, charitable, hard-working
responsible people. They were NOT abused because they got swatted on the
behind as you put it, and they were never abused in any way. The
difference is, that I loved and cared enough about my kids to teach them
right from wrong and how to respect people. THAT is the difference in
today's parenting. Incidentally, I'm not that old, just old enough to
have some common sense and wisdom when it comes to raising kids.

Re: 01/24/08 (26)"SSI. for there Children?"
Since your post makes it sound like all (?) parents of children
collecting SSI are, in essence, leeches, I would like to take this
opportunity to fill you in on a few things.
So Sorry.
I was NOT talking about people in your shoes.
I was talking about people who have kids with very little if any
problems.
I know of some and thats what I am talking about.
In your case you need the help.
The people I am talking about have kids that can handle Money,
shop,cook,clean (etc.)
Again I am sorry for what you are going through,
you are NOT who I was talking about.

Now that Ellwood has wasted its money on a glorified "Secretary" for the
police dept., they have to go looking for free help to patrol the
streets. How nice that the Guardian Angels might be coming here to pick
up the slack. I wish I could find a job that would pay me $58,000 a year
just for pushing some papers and being a nice guy.
You people in Ellwood never stop amazing me. But hey, if you all don't
mind shelling out your hard-earned money for nothing, that's fine with
me. It just explains why your town is a continual laughing stock.

I do believe that chief had all the necessary certifications and could
make an arrest. Apples & oranges.

If parents want to coach they should not be allowed to coach their own
children. You will then see who is there for all the kids in general, or
who is there to promote their own child. Unfortunately, parents coaching
in general, is a bad idea because of the clique factor.

Quit calling him "CHIEF" McDONALD. You people in Ellwood are CRAZY paying
$58,000.00 + benefits every year to a man that is not qualified by the
state to be a CHIEF OF POLICE. I do not know the mayor, but from what I
read, I don't believe he is ALL wrong. Why would these council members
vote to keep "MR." McDONALD, when they could get a certified working police
chief who could make arrests for the same money. I for one do not blame
the mayor for getting angry, mayors throughout the history of Ellwood
City have always supervised over the police dept. Ellwood's council
members are NOT looking at the best interest of the tax payers by
retaining "Mr" McDonald. Ellwood needs a working chief, NOT a "Police
Manager"

Regarding interpretations of the Wizard of Oz and its symbolism:
HOGWASH!
It reminds of the so-called allegory of Little Red Riding Hood. Literary
and folklore experts postulated that the red color of the hood
symbolized blah, blah, blah. The only problem with this little theory is
that in the original tales the hood was NOT red.

gibbons would destroy cortez in a debate and that would settle that.well
oviously you have never heard cortez speake or debate and oviuosly you
have never heard gibbons speake or debate you are cetainly right about
one thing it would be very much one sided

Well it would be a funny race. Since they are related.
we can call it "family feud". that probably weighs in on cortez running
agaisnt him. watch how often cortez and the gibbons family thats on the
school board disagee. 99% of the time.

I think Baum's work, the Wizard of Oz, is actually an allegory for
Ellwood City. Chief MacDonald is Dorothy and the Council is the
Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion, who are trying to help him
along his way. The Chief's house falls on the Mayor, who drops the Ruby
Cell Phone as his arm curls up. The Chief and Council sing and skip
along the Yellow Brick Lincoln High School and Veterans Memorial Road.
They finally reach the Ellmawoold City but the Wizard is Jozek who flies
off in a police car strapped to a balloon.
At this point Mr. TD appears and informs the chief he can call Auntie Em
on the Ruby Ce
