It was reported to police that a home on Line Avenue that had been
empty and condemned by the Borough had a water leak inside. When
officer arrived they could hear the water running in the kitchen
area. Officer made entry into the home and were unable to locate the
shut off valve for the water. It was later discovered that the
copper pipes had been removed from the kitchen and the hot water
tank. The water company was then contacted to turn off the water at
the street and police were advised who the owner is.

It was reported to officers while visiting a friend’s house in
Ellport, that a cell phone was discovered missing. The victim stated
several people were present at the residence at the time the phone
became missing and all were unknown by the victim. The phone is a
Shadow Slide phone valued at $400. The victim was advised to contact
the service provider in regard to having service stopped on the
phone if it is not located.

Officers were called to the Big Dawg’s Bar in regard to a Waylon
Eidenmiller, age 32 of Ellwood City, when he became disorderly and
security tried to escort him outside the establishment. Eidenmiller
was visibly intoxicated and was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Arrangements were made for someone to collect Eidenmiller at the
police station.
In another incident, outside the same establishment, Chrissy Lynn
Lauffer, 25 of Youngstown, OH was cited for public drunkenness when
she became uncooperative and continued to argue with her husband and
police. Lauffer was placed under arrest for public drunkenness
transported to the police station and later released to a friend.

It was reported to police that sometime overnight on this date,
unknown actor(s) spray-painted two (2) residents property that
included a wooden fence, garage door and a picnic table. It was
discovered in an earlier incident that two male juveniles were
picked up on curfew violations and were found to be in possession
with red spray paint. Upon contacting the parents of the two known
juveniles, officers questioned the male juveniles confirming they
had done the damage to resident’s property. Both juveniles will
receive citations for criminal mischief. Damage is estimated to be
approx. $500. The property owners will provide officers with a cost
for the removal of the paint. |

officers located the juveniles, they both had a can of red spray
paint on them. The juveniles were placed in the patrol unit and
transported to the Ellwood City Police Station where they were
issued curfew violations and their parents were called.

Officers were called to Lincoln High School in regard to a fight
between two (2) juvenile students. School video was observed by
officers, showing the juveniles and the time of the incident. The
juvenile victim had his shirt torn and a white gold necklace that
was broken in the incident could not be located. The victim was
taken to the hospital for x-rays, confirming that the injuries
sustained were minor. The defendant may face charges of Simple
Assault and Disorderly Conduct. |

A report was filed with ECPD concerning an assault. A parent
reported to officers that her child was knocked from his bike,
injuring his arm and foot. The altercation stems from an earlier
incident that took place at McDonalds. All involved were juveniles.
One juvenile was cited for Harassment and once officers speak to all
witnesses, another juvenile may also be cited for Harassment.

As part of a continuing investigation ECPD were able to learn that
the handgun used by Derrick Thompson in an incident that occurred on
4/20/2008, INCIDENT # 01897-08 was sold to him by Patrick Duncan. It
was also confirmed that the handgun was originally purchased in
Tennessee without being registered. Duncan faces charges for the
Sale or transfer of firearms and false reports to law enforcement
authorities.

ECPD Officers were dispatched to a home on Duncan Street for a
report of a car fire. Officers arrived on scene with Wurtemburg Fire
Dept. A car was turned upside down on its roof and engulfed in
flames. The owner of the property and the vehicle were participating
in a bonfire when some friends overturned the car onto the fire,
catching the car on fire. The owner did not whish to pursue charges
and no information could be obtained on the vehicle. Damage was also
sustained to the siding on a garage near the burning vehicle. This
incident is still under investigation

harassment that occurred at the baseball field. This incident was
witnessed and recorded on cell phones by several witnesses. Those
involved were juveniles at which time their parents were contacted.
Police are investigating to determine if this was harassment or if
the victim was engaging in behavior in order to be filmed. The
incident is under further investigation.

disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located the actors who were
arguing with each other. Officers spoke to all persons involved
while conducting a checked for warrants. It was confirmed that John
Paul Hardt had an active Felony Bench warrant out of Butler County
for Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Hardt was transported to the
Lawrence County Jail.

The Ellwood City Electric Department supervisor reported that
unknown actor(s) attempted to break into a small shed belonging to
the Borough of Ellwood City. Two bolts were broken off and the shed
was open. It appeared, at the time of this report that nothing was
missing. Upon inspection, the bolts were cut off with bolt cutters.

was noticed to be missing until, 4/25/08, the resident went to look
for some of his tools and discovered they were missing. The owner
believes that a 10” Compound Miter Saw, 10” Table saws, Framing
Nailer, Finish Nailer, 1/2 “ Heavy Duty Drill and a Lap Top Computer
were stolen believing to be approx. $1500.00 in value. The incident

ECPD Officers responded to a burglary that was believed to have
taken place while the owner was not at home. When the owner arrived
home, it was noted that someone had gone through the house and that
some jewelry was missing. Officers lifted finger prints off the
doorframes and noted that the inside door to the residence was
damaged. Missing from the home were (2) sets of wedding and two
engagement rings, (1) yellow gold ring and (1) white gold ring. The

ECPD learned that the actor Tyler McCaslin had an outstanding
warrant out for his arrest issued held by the Beaver County Sheriffs
office. Officers went to the address where McCaslin was known to be.
When officer arrived, McCaslin tried to elude officers by jumping
out a bathroom window. Officers chased McCaslin north towards
Crescent Avenue and trapped him between several homes, at which time
he was placed under arrest and transported to the ECPD. During
transportation to the station and while at the station, McCaslin
continually made threats toward officers and slammed his forehead
off the police cruiser cage and in the jail cell several times.
McCaslin was released to the Beaver County Sheriffs office.

While on patrol, ECPD officers observed a 2002 Ford F150 approach
and stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Sixth Street. When a
second vehicle, a 1995 Ford Contour approached the 2002 Ford F15
from behind, striking it. No injuries were reported one was hurt in
the incident but the 1995 Contour vehicle had to be towed from the
scene.

license was observed getting into his vehicle, driving away.
Officers initiated a traffic stop at 5th Street and Franklin Avenue.
After requesting the defendant’s information, he was cited for
driving under suspension DUI related and released. The vehicle he
was driving towed by Barry’s.

complainant stated that he was inside the store, when he returned to
his vehicle and noticed there were scuff marks and a dent on the

It was reported to officers that a motor vehicle owned by Northern
Pipe Construction Company was damaged overnight. Unknown actor(s)
had broken a drivers side window to one of their trucks between the

vehicle was parked in the parking area off of Joffre Street at the

Officers were called to the Ellwood City Hospital for a theft. A
supervisor told officers that a patient (DeFrischia) left the ER and
stole a wheel chair valued at $300. Officers went to DeFrischia’s
home and he admitted to taking the chair and told officers he threw
it in a dumpster behind Weller’s Supermarket. The wheelchair was
recovered and returned to the Ellwood City Hospital. There was minor
damage done to the wheelchair. DeFrischia was charged with theft.

Officers were dispatched to Spring Avenue in regard to a theft of a
purse from the victims vehcile. The victim who tried to recover the
purse was injured by one of the defendants, who then fled the scene.
The victim was able to identify the suspect who removed the purse.
Officers went to the defendant’s residence. James Scott Majetic Age
23 and Cassandra Majetic Age 21 of 335 Second Street Majetic gave
officers permission to search the vehicle when a credit card
belonging to the victim was located. Both defendants will be charged
with Robbery, Theft by Unlawfully Taken and Receiving Stolen
Property. A third person Clifford L. Moxley III Age 26 of the same
address was cited for Disorderly Conduct.

Police were dispatched to an accident scene at 913 Crescent Avenue
where a vehicle driven by Weisz backed up into the back of a house.
Officers initiated Field Sobriety Tests, which the defendant stated
he could not complete some of the tests. Weisz told officers he
thought he put the vehicle in park. Officers transported Weisz to
the Ellwood City Hospital for a blood test and escorted him back to
the station where he was cited for driving under the influance and
released to a friend who would take him to his home.

Ellwood City Police received a call from the 911 Center in regard to
a male caller stating he needed to talk to CYS because of a known
female on Loop Street was participating in drug usage and that a gun
went off in front of her children. Officers arrived at the 400 block
of Loop Street and were meant by 15-20 people standing in the
roadway. In speaking with some of the witnesses, they advised
officers of the individual who had discharged the gun in the
residence and which direction he headed. Officers located Derek
Thompson and transported him to the station. Officers identified and
took statements from several witnesses. At the conclusion of the
investigation, Thompson will be held at the Ellwood City Police
station until his arraignment, facing several firearm and
endangering charges. Derrick Thompson was arraigned in front of
Magistrate Jerry Cartwright and transported to the Lawrence County
Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

collected pertinent information from witnesses of the accident and
went to the hospital to request a blood alcohol test be drawn on

Officers responded to the 300 block of Park Avenue to take a report
of criminal mischief to a residence home. Unknown actor(s) went to
the home and painted with green paint on the front and back door.
Actor(s) then broke the porch back door and painted on the
furniture, flags and walls. The incident is under investigation.
The following day Police were dispatched to this home once again for
a possible burglary in progress. The homeowner arrived home to find
his residence entered. The residence was cleared using the K-9 dog
to do a building search. The residence was empty but someone had
rummaged through drawers. The victim reported numerous Nascar
memorabilia, play station, games, two (2) leather coats and two (2)
stamp books had been stolen. The owner stated all doors were locked.
The homeowner told officers that the day before unknown actor(s)
wrote threats on the exterior bedroom door. Officers gathered
pertinent information, photographed evidence and attempted to lift

Cavalier with a stocky white male operating the vehicle in the area

strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Hammerly and he stated
he had been drinking and that he was drunk. Hammerly was asked to

While on patrol, officers viewed a person stagger away from a
vehicle. As officers spoke to this pedestrian, they noticed his
speech was slurred and he appeared to be highly intoxicated. David
Kimmel, Age 19 of 435 Wampum Avenue was cited for Public
Drunkenness. In speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the actor
Matthew Spielvogel, officers viewed drug paraphernalia lying on the
vehicle floor and could smell marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
Permission was granted for officers to search the vehicle at which
time Spielvogel was placed under arrest for possession of narcotics.

It was reported to police that an area resident had been the victim
of Credit Card Fraud. The victim provided information to police
about a possible suspect, where the card was used, dates used,
amounts and the purchaser’s signature. The victim was unaware of the
use of the credit card until calls from a collection agency were
received. An investigation is continuing.

Officers responded to several criminal mischiefs to property and
automobiles in the area over the holiday weekend. A fence on the
property of Dimeo’s Law Office was damaged and a wall was spray
pained on the alleyway wall of Rite Aid Pharmacy.
A vehicle parked on Lawrence Avenue was broken into. Unknown actor(s)
broke the passenger side window of a 2002 Nissan Quest Van. Actor(s)
also broke the passenger side mirror and removed a Sirrus satellite
radio. Damage to the vehicle and theft is estimated to be approx.
$900. In another incident, a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up had the gas
cap removed and someone attempted to burn paper in the gas cap area.
No other damage was noticed. Another automobile was damaged in the
Loop Street area; a 4-door Saturn had several scratches on the rear
fender, trunk lid and hood. No estimate was available for damages to
the Saturn. It was also reported that a home on Hazel Avenue had a
broken side window. Unknown actor(s) threw a rock through the
window. Damage is estimated at approx. $30.

Officers were dispatched to the 7-11 Convenience Store for a sick
male. When officers arrived on the scene Macmurdo was sitting in
front of the store and officers could smell a strong odor of an
alcoholic beverage. The suspect blew a .19 on the pbt. Officers
placed Macmurdo under arrest for public drunkenness and transported
him to the Ellwood City Police Station until he was sober enough to
be released.

Once again officers were called out because of criminal mischief
taking place in the Ellwood City area. It was reported to officers
that the St. Elias Orthodox Church sign had been vandalized. The
sign appeared to be struck with something that caused a crease down
the middle of it. In another incident, a homeowner told police that
he had put up a fence along his driveway and someone had knocked it
over. In both incidents no one had seen anything so residents are
asked to watch for any persons in their area that may seem
suspicious and contact police immediately. If anyone has any
information about either of these incidents, they are asked to
contact police.

ECPD Officers were dispatched twice to Hall Industries for an
attempted break in. Officers and the K-9 dog Jozek conducted a
search and located a broken panel from a rear window. On the 2nd
call, officers found that one of the front doors with a large steel
bar pried into it and further into the search discovered two windows
pushed in at the rear of the building. Photographs and evidence were
collected at the scene. It appeared that nothing was stolen. Anyone

Police. Johnson was detained until ECPD officers arrived and
transported him back to Lawrence County, lodging him in the Lawrence
County Jail.

get pertinent information from the victim and to see if the victim
was OK. The defendant became unruly assaulting two officers. Hemby
was transported to the Ellwood Police Station where he was finger
printed and charged with Assault.
