Paul W. Kirstatter, 79, of River Road, Ellwood City, died on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at his residence.
He was born in Ellwood City on August 14, 1930 to the late William H. Kirstatter and the late Elsie M. Scheel Kirstatter.
Paul was a graduate of Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked from 1959 -1987 at the B&W Koppel Steel Mill and was formerly a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City.
He is survived by several cousins: Carl Kirstatter of Zelienople, Velma Schomberg Hicks of Wexford, Homer Schomberg of Mars, Ruth Kirstatter of California, Janet Gibson of Jamestown, NY, and Maryet Deemer of Cranberry Township.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, July 30, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, with Rev. Andrew Shaffer, pastor of Camp Run Presbyterian Church officiating. Full military rites will be observed at Turners by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township,

Edward J. Slevin, 60 of 245 Glenwood Dr., Wayne Twp. passed away at his residence on July 27, 2010 at 3:30 P.M.
Ed was born in Ellwood City on May 9, 2010 to the late Edward E. and Joan M. Adler Slevin. He was a self employed contractor and the former owner-operator of Slevin's Decorating in Ellwood City. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and a Veteran of the Navy. He served as a Naval Diver from 1969 through 1973 in Vietnam and was a diver on the recovery team for several of the Apollo Missions. Ed was a member of the Hungarian Home and member and former officer of the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by three children, Eric and Tyffanie Slevin of Hermitage, PA, Ryan Slevin and his fiancee Kelly Heubel of Austintown, OH and Natalie and Arthur Hazen of McDonald, PA, 5 Grandchildren, a sister, Maureen and Bob Bergdahl of Gibsonia, PA, 3 brothers, Bob and Linda Slevin of Conneaut Lake, PA, Mike and Paula Slevin and Todd and Leslie Slevin both of Beaver, PA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Redeemer Church on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10 A. M. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport, PA on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

William "Bill" E. Malkowiak, 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 27th at 11:35 AM at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. The beloved husband, father and grandfather passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Natrona, PA, the son of the late Theodore and Ann Varos Malkowiak. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1954 and worked for Allegheny Ludlum. He served in the US Army from 1959 through 1964, then transitioned to a 34 year career working for the Metropolitan Life Company, with an office in Beaver Falls, PA. He served on the Ellport Borough Council and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bill was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Patricia Mazur, a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Marci Malkowiak of Minneapolis, MN, a daughter, Annie Malkowiak of Uniontown, PA, a son, Jim Malkowiak of Ellwood City, and four grandchildren: Tyler, Michael, Matthew and Anna.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 30th at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church.

Wayne E. Kennedy, 87, of Moravia Rd. New Galilee (North Beaver Twp.) passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 24, 2010 following an extended illness.
Born August 16, 1922 in Darlington, he was the son of the late Edwin and Helen Sheerer Kennedy.
He was married for 59 years to Edna Innes Kennedy who passed away May 30, 2006.
Wayne retired from B.& W. where he was a pipe fitter in the welding fitting department in Koppel. He was also a lifelong farmer. Mr. Kennedy was an active member of the Moravia Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, former Deacon, Trustee, the Clerk of Session, and a Sunday School Teacher. He was a decorated veteran of the Army, serving in WWII. Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post #749 in Wampum, the Meridian Lodge F & AM #411 in Enon Valley, New Castle Consistory, and the Mohawk Area Church Association. He was active with Project Hope and the Heifer Project. He particularly enjoyed time spent with his church family.
Survivors include five children: Linda (Jeff) Luce of Hermitage, Ed (Diana) Kennedy of North Beaver Twp., Beth (Bob) Basile of Duncannon, PA, Connie (David) Anderson of North Beaver Twp. John (Connie) Kennedy of North Beaver Twp.; sister, Lucy (Bob) McKinley of North Beaver Twp.; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A celebration of Wayne's Life will be held at the Moravia Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with his current pastor, Rev. Teresa Kendall and his former pastor, Rev. Jason Hickman officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Jamison Hospice or the Meridian Lodge F & AM. Arrangement have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home - Wampum.

Byrl B. Delp, 81, of Spring Street, Shenango Township, passed away at 11:45 a.m. July 23, 2010, at Edison Manor.
Mr. Delp was born Oct. 30, 1928, in McKees Rocks PA. He was a son of the late Oliver and Anna Mae Shaffer Delp.
He married the former Wilma Acklin, who survives at home.
Mr. Delp retired after 38 years as a system technician with Bell Telephone Co. in New Castle.
He served with the US Army’s 47th Divisional Tank Battalion in the Korean War.
He was a member of the Telephone Union and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 455.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David D. Delp of New Castle; his daughter, Brenda Francis of Canal Winchester, Ohio; four grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Hirth in New Mexico.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James C. Delp.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Third Presbyterian Church in New Castle, conducted by the Rev. Douglas E. Hughes, pastor of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s local Veterans Affairs office.

Linda C. Semak Mesko, 66, of Windy Dr. Ellwood City (Wayne Twp.) died unexpectedly Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Ellwood City Hospital.
Born December 16, 1943 in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Agnes Poffek.
She was married to the late Charles John Mesko who died December 4, 1992. Linda was a great mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed cooking and baking.
Survivors include seven children; Lisa (JR)Repine of Dillianville, Ohio, Charles (Chris) Mesko, Terrie Mesko Herko, Chonda Steele, Shanna (Mike) Meyer, John Andrew "Scotty" Mesko, Daniel Mesko, all of Ellwood City, sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Wayne Guy who passed away on August 8, 1990.
Friends will be received from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the memorial service at 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 25 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Newton, Paul A. “Bud”
Bud passed away peacefully on June 12, 2010 in Deerfield Beach, Florida where he had lived for fifty-two years. He was 80 years old. He was born and raised in Ellwood City and was preceded in death by his parents Ralph W. Newton Sr. and Helen Hovelman Newton.
Bud graduated in 1947 from Lincoln High School. In 1951, he graduated from Geneva College with a BSBA in Accounting. He was a long distance runner for the Geneva Track Team.
Bud was a former member of the Connoquenessing Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In 1958, when Bud moved to Florida, he worked as a specialty estimator and architectural designer for a prominent Pompano Beach company until retirement.
He is survived by his brother Ralph W. Newton Jr. and sister-in-law, Patricia “Patty” Carnahan Newton, of Littleton, Colorado.
A memorial service was held in Florida with his many friends and neighbors and his remains were interred at sea.

Russell Anderson, 84, of Frisco, died on Wednesday morning, July 21, 2010 at his residence.
He was born in Ellwood City on November 26, 1925 to the late Benjamin R. Anderson and the late Elizabeth Jane Morrow Anderson.
Russell was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a turret gunner aboard the USS Saginaw Bay. He worked at several jobs, eventually retiring from Mathews Conveyor, and was a lifelong member of Knox Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder, and trustee. Russell enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Kingston Anderson, as well as two daughters, Cheri (and Doug) Magill of Portersville and Debby Anderson of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Julie (and Jason) Wagner and Joel and Kyle Magill, as well as a great-granddaughter, Erika Wagner, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The last of his family, he was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two brothers: Benjamin Anderson and Charles R. Anderson, as well as an infant daughter.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday, July 23, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at TURNER’S with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, his pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wayne Township.

Our precious mother, Anna Miskolcze, 95, formerly of Ellport went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle.
She was married to William Miskolcze, Sr. for more than 60 years. William passed away in January of 2002. She was a school crossing guard in Ellport and worked at Cully's restaurant for 17 years. She was along time active member and Deacon of the Ellport Presbyterian Church. She belonged to the Women's Auxillary of the Hungarian Home. She was an excellent cook and loved to crochet. She enjoyed music, dancing and singing Hungarian songs. Most important to her was spending time with her family and friends. Her closest friend was Martha Pocza of Ellwood City.
She is survived by her children, a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Shirley & Robert Hegedus of Ellport, and a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. William & Barbara Miskolcze of Beaver Falls, and a sister Rose Plosinski of Beaver Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Takacs, her brothers, Steve, Alex, and John Takacs, and a sister, Carrie Tusaie.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 20, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 10-11am at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc..
Services will be held at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Teresa Kendall and Pastor Kenneth Myer officiating. Internment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Edyth M. Kaufman, 89, of Luther Court at The Passavant, Zelienople, formerly of North Tower Road, Fombell, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, July 14 2010.
She was born in the Riverview area of North Sewickley Twp., Beaver County, on July 1 1921 to the late John M. and Ellen V. Dunbar McDonald.
She was an active member for 70 years of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church, held many offices, was on Session and was a deacon, and belonged to the Bible Study group at The Passavant.
Edyth was currently working on a book about her family history.
She was preceded, in addition to her parents, by her husband, William H. Kaufman, who died November 16 1994. They were married Nov. 2 1940. She was also preceded by a granddaughter, Ellen Mayberry, and one sister, Dolores Duncan.
She is survived by one son, two daughters and sons-in-law: Donald W. Kaufman of Ocala Florida; Eileen V. (and William) Mayberry of New Castle PA; and Lynne (and David) Ellison of Bridgeport Ohio.
Twelve grandchildren survive, and nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren as well as one brother, Charles McDonald of Ellwood City.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Sunday , July 18 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, July 19, at TURNERS, with her pastor, the Rev. Don Aull, of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Zelienople (English Lutheran) Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in her name to the North Sewickley Presbyterian Church
