Mrs. Elizabeth L. (DeGenova) Ferrara,
89 of Hemlock Way, formerly Pittsburgh Circle, Ellwood City, PA passed
away at Katera's Kove Personal Care Home, Sunday May 11, 2008 at 11:00pm.
She was born in West Pittsburg Pa, the
daughter of Angelo and Anna (DeRosa) DeGenova. She was married on
May 30, 1949 to Joseph A. Ferrara.
She was a 1937 graduate of New Castle
High School, and went on to attend New Castle Business College. She
retired from the Ellwood City School district as a secretary. She
was a member of the Holy Redeemer Church.
In addition to her husband, she is
survived by her daughter Lauranne Ferrara and her husband Kim Smolka of
Franklin Township. She is also survived by her two grandsons Jameson and
Steven Burnworth.
She is preceded in death by her brother
Daniel DeGenova who was killed in action in WW II, and her sister Amelia
Caravella.
Visiting hours will be held at the
Samuel Teolis
Funeral Home, Inc. from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at the
Holy Redeemer Church at 10:00am Thursday May 15, 2008.
Internment will be in the Holy Redeemer
Cemetery.
Those attending the funeral mass are
asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 9:20am as the procession
to church will begin to leave at 9:30.

Mr. Peter J. Neghiu, 83 of Franklin Avenue
Ellwood City, passed away yesterday May 11, 2008 in the Emergency Room of
Ellwood City Hospital at 6:54pm.
Mr. Neghiu was born in Ellwood City on March 23, 1925, a son of the late
John Neghiu and the late Mary Maier (Myers) Neghiu. He married
Florence "Zina" Siriantu Neghiu on July 1, 1967.
He was a Lincoln High School graduate,
class of 1944. he was a United States navy WW II Seaman First Class
from August 4, 1943 until March 25, 1946. He served in the European
and Pacific Theaters. He was a member of St. Elias Romanian Orthodox
Church where he served as Vice president and President. He was a
life member of the Moose Lodge #93, and VFW post #252 since 1945. He
served as treasurer of the Romanian Club for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and
being with his family and friends.
He was employed by the US Steel
Ellwood City tube Mill for 15 years in the inspection department, then
with the Babcock and Wilcox Tube Co. in beaver Falls as a crane operator
for 25 years. Presently, he had been working with the Samuel Teolis
Funeral Home, Inc. as a door man since 1989.
In addition to his wife, he is survived
by his sisters Valeria Rossi of Ellport and Mary Rugh of Ellport; his
sister-in-law, Victoria Neghiu of California; and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother John Neghiu, Jr., who passed away
in 2004 as well as his brother Daniel Neghiu.
Visiting hours will be held at the
Samuel Teolis
Funeral Home, Inc. from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday, May 14 where a saracusta service will be held at 8:00pm Wednesday.
Mr. Neghiu will lie in state from Noon
until the time of services at 1:00pm Thursday May 15, 2008 with Father
John Schmidt officiating.
Internment will be in the Locust Grove
Cemetery.
Members of the Veterans Honor guard are
asked to meet at the cemetery on Thursday by 2pm to conduct full military
rites.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
St. Elias Romanian Orthodox Church.

Granville
S. "Si" Lyons, 82, of Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, passed
away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Hartland, West Virginia, on July 16, 1925 to the late
Elijah Stewart Lyons and the late Mary Elizabeth Fultz Lyons.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre from
1943 to 1946, stationed in Guam.
He was a coal miner in West Virginia before moving to Pennsylvania, where
he was a heavy equipment operator with Bracken Construction until his
retirement in 1988.
He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Wilma Ann Ritter Lyons. Also
surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Rodger (and Linda) Parker of
Burney, CA; David (and Debra) Lyons of Ellwood City; William (and Tracy)
Lyons of Boise, ID, and Gordon (and Sharon) Long of Fort Hood, TX, as well
as his daughters and sons-in-law, Carol (and Bob) Suladie of Emporium, PA;
Lenny (and Gordon) Bruno of Lexington, VA; Rose (and Wayne) Kinard of
Roswell, GA; Mary (and Craig) Cavanaugh and Beth (and Rob) Barry, all of
Ellwood City.
Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Two
sisters, Sally Guy of Wampum and Sylvia Lyons of New Castle, also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and fours sisters, Stavely,
Stanley and Jack Lyons, and Marie Dorn, Mabel Parks, Demple Vose and
Goldie Lyons.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Ritter, Ellwood City, PA.
Granville enjoyed playing bluegrass music with his loving family and
friends.
Friends will be received Friday, May 9, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, Ellwood City,

conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2008, in the Ellwood City Chapel at TURNERS
at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Wurtemburg Cemetery, Wayne Township.
Full military rites will be observed at the funeral home by the Veterans
Honor Guard.
Amelia L. McCaslin, 88,
of 1765 Windover Avenue, Ellwood City (North Sewickley Twp.) died at 10:00
A.M. on Thursday, May 8 2008 in the Mary Evans Extended Care Center at
Ellwood City Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 18 1920 to the late Nestor and Mary Tassin
Peters. She was Presbyterian by faith, and graduated from Lincoln High
School, class of 1939.
She belonged to the Womans Club of Ellwood City; Order of Eastern Star
#212; Wimodausis and AARP.
Amelia enjoyed reading and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John A. McCaslin,
whom she married on February 24 1940. He died on July 12 2005. She was
also preceded by one daughter, Frances L. "Tootie" McCaslin, who died
February 10 1988.
Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary and Charles Baker
of Ellwood City; and Evelyn and Willard Deemer of Wampum, and nieces and
nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Raymond
Peters; a stepbrother, Alvis Laurain; and two stepsisters, Celia Wilson
and Olga Uphoff.
Friends will be received from 6 -9 P.M. on Friday, May 9 in the TURNER
FUNERAL HOME, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, Ellwood City.
Services will be conducted at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 10 in the TURNER
FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, with Mr. Thomas O'Brien, Minister of the
First Christian Church of Ellwood City, officiating.
Entombment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum,
Daugherty Twp.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Ellwood City Area Public
Library.

Mrs. Mary E. (Costa) Manzo, 93 of
Passavant Health Center, Zelienople, formerly of Center Avenue, Ellwood
City, PA, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at 10:30pm at the UPMC Passavant
Hospital, Cranberry Twp., PA. She
was born on August 4, 1914 in Branchton, Butler County, PA, a daughter of
the late Samuel Costa and Josephine (Buano) Costa.
She was married to Nicholas Manzo, Sr. on
December 29, 1983. He passed away on April 1, 1983.
She was a home maker, a member of the
Holy redeemer Church, as well as a member of the Chrisitian Mothers of the
Church, Corona D'Italia Lodge No. 807 and the AARP.
She loved cooking, entertaining her
family, especially enjoyed her grandchildren, playing bingo and had a
great sense of humor.
She is survived by her brother Thomas
Costa and his wife Isabelle of Wayne Twp., her sisters Florence
Pietrandrea of Koppel, Marian S. Costa and Lagina Woods of California; 4
grandchildren Heather & Eric Mikulas, Matthew Manzo, maria & Mike Ressler
and Michael Manzo, Jr.; and one great grand daughter Sophie Mikulas.
She is preceded in death by 5 brothers
Carmine Costa, James Costa, Patsy Costa, Lawrence Costa, St. and Ralph
Costa who passed away April 26, 2008.

Mrs. Angela M. (Salvatorelli) Lamenza,
85 of Crescent Ave., Ellwood City, passed away at 1:15am this morning
following a brief illness.
She was born in Forestville, PA on May 18, 1922, a daughter of the late
Nicola P. Salvatorelli and Josephine (Chiolo) Salvatorelli. She was
the wife of John "Chink" Lamanza who passed away on January 7, 1980. She
had been living in California and moved back to Ellwood City in 2005.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1940, worked at Gene's
Jewelry store in Ellwood City for 15 years as a sales person, and was a
member of Holy Redeemer Church. She enjoyed gardening, spending time
with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by 2 sons, John "Nick"
Lamenza of Ellwood City; Joseph and his wife Michele Lamenza of Ellwood
City; her brother Chester Salvatorelli of Grass Valley, California; her
sisters Mary Delliquadri, Ann Conner and Sandra Leyman all of Oroville,
Californina; 4 grandchildren Joseph, Mathew, Jon and Michael Lamenza; and
her great granddaughter, Alyssa Lamenza.
In addition to her parents and her
husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Della Marcozzi.

Jennie M. Lasso Montani, 88, of 718
Steeplechase Road, Landisville, Pa., formerly of 301 Foch Street in
Ellwood City, died on Friday morning, May 2, 2008, at the Moravian Manor,
Lititz, Pa. She was born in Ellwood City on November 11, 1919, to the late
Frank and Pearl Lasso.
She had been a member of Holy Redeemer Parish (BVM) for many years and had
been active in the Christian Mothers group at the church. She was a 1938
graduate of Lincoln High School. She was a Library Aide for many years in
the Ellwood City School District.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Sylvia Montani,
Landisville, Pa.; a daughter, Karen Montani, Huntingdon, Pa., and two
grandchildren, Ms. Elise Montani and Mr. Aaron Montani.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William Montani, on
January 20, 1990. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank
and Anthony Lasso, and three sisters, Mary Lagana, Tina Shensky and Anna
Lasso.
No visitation is planned. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at
10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Holy Redeemer Parish Church (BVM).
Interment will be in Holy Redeemer Parish Cemetery, North Sewickley
Township.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made in her name to the
Ellwood City Public Library or the donor's favorite charity.
