ELLWOOD CITY -- On Saturday July
26th, the Pittsburgh Pirates were defeated 9-6 by the last place San Diego
Padres at PNC Park. The more interesting part about the game played Saturday
is the fact that Ellwood City was represented very well at the park.
A local singing group, Ellwood City Civic Chorale, sang The National Anthem
in front of the announced 27,794 fans in attendance. The group of 30
departed to Pittsburgh from Ellwood City around 4:00 p.m. Saturday evening
and arrived at the stadium around 5:00 p.m.
Jody Kulinski, crewmember of ECCC, explained, “It was hot and humid, it was
a beautiful day”. Temperature stretched into the 80’s during the day, but
cooled off by nightfall.
While practicing out in right field for their big performance, members of
the ECCC gazed out at the beautiful city background visible from almost
anywhere in the stadium. After performing The National Anthem at
approximately 6:40 p.m., ECCC took their Section 204 seats to enjoy the rest
of the game.
