Altmire hopes to improve No Child Left Behind
Monday, July 12, 2010
8:15 AM - U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) met with 15 superintendents and educators from Lawrence County school districts Wednesday to discuss how to improve the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).
As a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, Congressman Altmire will play a key role in reauthorizing NCLB.
“The No Child Left Behind Act has had a profound impact on America’s schools,” said Congressman Altmire. “The educators I met with today provided valuable insights into how NCLB affects students on a daily basis. This feedback - as well as the comments I have heard from countless parents and teachers over the years - will be at the forefront of my mind as I work to improve this law.”
NCLB is the main law that covers federal aid and programs for elementary and secondary schools (K-12). In addition to meeting with Lawrence County educators today, Congressman Altmire also met with educators in Beaver and Allegheny counties about NCLB this week.
