Donate to Haiti fund in Giant Eagle Monday, February 01, 2010 9:18 AM - Next time you’re in Giant Eagle, look around at all the food we have, and then consider giving to the Haitian relief fund – a joint fundraiser with the American Red Cross and Giant Eagle stores. The joint fundraiser, which allows shoppers to donate to the American Red Cross in the grocery chain's cashier lines, was to have ended Jan. 30. However, thanks to the superb contributions, the Red Cross has announced it has extended its Haitian relief effort through Feb. 6. Already, Giant Eagle and their individual stores have raised approximately $340,000 to this date. The fundraiser allows customers at Giant Eagle, GetGo, Giant Eagle Express and Market District stores throughout Western Pennsylvania to donate in $1 and $5 increments to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. If you don’t want to leave your home in this cold weather, you can text the word "Haiti" to 90999 to send a $10 donation to the Haiti Relief and Development Fund.
