Skyla Greco didn’t allow a single hit as Wolverines defeated Steel Valley 5-0 on Tuesday. To get the final out Greco struck out Veronica Sikora pushing her game total to 14 strikeouts against three walks in the contest. Wolverines took an early lead in the second inning. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation Opening Day

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation hosted their annual opening day ceremony Saturday at Friedhoff Field – an event which the organizations Vice President, Michael Widmaier, said was a success. “The weather held off until the end, parents and grandparents paraded with their kids, the high school baseball players applauded the young players as they paraded onto the field, Mayor Court attended, and Nathan Scott threw the first pitch.  Grove City entered Friday evening’s non section game with 11 home runs on the season. The Lady Wolverines won the home run battle and the game with a 9-5 victory. Skyla Greco didn’t allow a single run as Wolverines defeated Riverside 10-0 on Tuesday. Greco allowed just two hits and struck out Baily Dwyer to end the game. Wolverines grabbed an early lead. From exotic animal encounters to a trashion-fashion show, live performances, Eco-friendly vendors, and much more – The Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce put together an Earth Day celebration to remember. While the annual event gets bigger every year, their newest addition to the celebration is the Trashion Show. With over half a dozen local competitors, the Ewing stage was filled with fashionable trash outfits crafted completely out of recyclable materials. Ellwood City Wolverines fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-1 loss to Riverside on Wednesday. The Lady Wolverines started the season off on the right foot with a 13-3 victory over the Union Scotties on Saturday. The game was halted after 5 innings due to the mercy rule. Anna Ferrucci led the 9 hit attack with 3 singles and 2 runs scored. Natalia Greco added two singles, 3 RBI’s and scored twice. Breonna Streit and Megan Siegfried contributed doubles. 12th Annual International Showcase Enjoyed at Riverside High School

On Tuesday, March 21, over 100 tenth grade World Cultures students with the support of 10 International Club students presented the Twelfth Annual International Showcase of Countries at Riverside High School. Following months of preparation, displays that showcased 33 nations of the world were opened to students in the Riverside district from grade K through 8. 30 Riverside classes with nearly 700 students toured the Showcase this year. In addition, a group of students from Ambridge attended the Showcase for the first time. Nine exchange students currently living in Pennsylvania were participants.
