Police Investigating Hit and Run On Route 18

On Wednesday, August 12, at approximately 8:00 pm, PA State Police responded to a report of a hit/run crash in which a motorist was traveling south on Route-18 Big Beaver Boulevard near Possum Hollow Road and struck a metal fence, causing substantial damage, owned by “The Race Place” in New Beaver Boro, Lawrence County. Th accident destroyed six metal poles holding up the fence wiring. Upon arrival to the scene, police examined the scene and interviewed the victim/witnesses. EC 12u Softball Team Wins Playoff Thriller Vs Shenango, Advances To Championship Game

At first glance, the semifinal playoff game had all the makings of a great game. Two evenly matched teams were meeting for the third time with both teams collecting a victory. The rubber match that took place at Stiefel Park on Tuesday night was all of that and more. The Lady Wolverines finally took their first lead in their last at bat and hung on for a hard fought 8-6 victory over Shenango. With the win, Ellwood City improved to 14-2 on the season. Lincoln High School Posts Return to School Plan Survey For Parents

Ellwood City Area School District announced on Tuesday a ‘Return to School Plan Survey’ for Lincoln High School parents via a Google Forms survey published on the district site. [The district is] asking all parents of students in grades 7-12 complete the google form survey by Sunday, August 16 at 10:00 PM. ECASD Board to Consider Virtual Broadcasts for Sports Spectators

Ellwood City Area School District’s sports could be virtual for spectators come Fall. The board is set to consider a proposal that would include a $2,000 cost to stream home games. “It is a great way to get our sports out there,” said Interim Superintendent Wes Shipley. With the continuation of Covid-19, state mandated restrictions and regulations will cause a new look to the upcoming sports seasons. Bernstine Announces School Districts, Career and Technical Schools Receive Grants

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced the Continuity of Education Equity Grant (CEEG) has been awarded to school districts and Career and Technical Schools in the 10th District for the 2020-21 academic year. “These grants may be used to purchase computer equipment, such as laptops, tablets and internet hot spots, or used to provide instruction materials, such as paper lessons and coursework,” said Bernstine. “Schools with the highest percentages of students lacking access to resources were given priority in receiving these grants.” Those receiving grants in the 10th District include: Ellwood City Area School District – $8,590. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. NOTE The Library will continue doing curbside pickup. In a published document on the Ellwood City School District website, the school offers question and answer document for parents regarding the district’s reopening plans.  The reopening plan was posted on the school district website on July 31. 1.
