POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: According to PA State Police, during the overnight hours between March 13 and March 14, a burglary took place in Perry Township. It was reported between 9pm on Saturday and 10:00am on Sunday, March 14th an unknown forced entry into a garage on Van Gorder Mill Road and stole several items. Some of the items taken from the garage include a chainsaw, several chains, rigid power tools, excaliber crossbow, quad winch and other miscellaneous tools. COVID-19 Vaccine To Be Made Available In Ellwood City

Mayor Anthony J. Court, Lawrence County Commissioner Lorretta Spielvogel and the Ellwood City Emergency Management Agency have secured 200 doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine. The vaccine will be distributed Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Location will be at the Crescent Place Nursing Home, located at 630 Crescent Avenue in Ellwood City. Anyone in Phase 1A as indicated by the Department of Health is eligible to receive the vaccine. Franklin Township Clean-Up Day Announced

Clean up your yard, clean up your home, and clean up your garage! Franklin Township residents are invited to participate in a township clean-up day planned for Saturday, May 1, 2021. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until 2:00 p.m. for township residents. Residents can drop off trash at the Franklin Township Building located on Route 288 in Fombell. Cub Scout Pack 806 Holds Pinewood Derby

Ellwood City’s local Cub Scout Pack 806 held its annual Pinewood Derby on March 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City with 35 boys participating. The top three finishers were Tiger Scout, Paul Agnew, first place, Webelo Scout, Jacob Donley, second place and Wolf Scout, Liam Woloszyn, third place. Fan Favorites was presented to Tiger Scouts, Wyatt Kyle and Luke Johnston. Best Effort/Sportsmanship was presented to Wolf Scout, Eddie Britton. Tradition, community support, and a love of his hometown were all on Joe Fotia’s list of reasons to open Fotia Physical Therapy in Ellwood City. “I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps of owning a business in Ellwood City,” he said. “Also, no matter where I have worked, I’ve always had support from the people of Ellwood City.” Fotia grew up in Ellwood City and graduated from Lincoln High School (class of ‘87). Two LHS Students Recognized For LCCTC Pride & Promise Award

Two Lincoln High School students were among four dedicated senior Cosmetology students who received the Lawrence County Career & Technical Center (LCCTC) March 2021 Pride & Promise Award Each student was recognized at the JOC Board meeting last week for achieving 1,250 hours during their three years of study at LCCTC. Earning this milestone accomplishment, the students are now able to get a temporary license and take the PA State Board examination to be newly licensed hair stylists in PA.
