Ellwood City Borough Council Reorganizes, Sets 2022 Meeting Dates

Ellwood City Borough Council held its reorganizational meeting Monday night. Newly elected Mayor Anthony Court was administered his oath of office by Jerry Cartwright, magisterial district judge. Court then administered the oath of office to the newly elected council members: Jim Barry, Michele Lamenza, Brad Ovial, and Jan Williams. Ovial joined council after Councilwoman Lisa Guerrera resigned in August. Her term was set to expire on December 31, 2021. Guerrera had moved out of the borough, leaving her legally unable to fulfill the rest of her term. Ovial and Williams both submitted letters of interest in filling the vacant seat…

POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

MISSING PERSON: Pennsylvania State Police received reports of a missing person on December 29, 2021. It is reported Lauren Cortez, 32, of New Castle, had left her residence with a known male on December 28th at approximately 4:45 p.m. and last spoke with her parents at 7:35 p.m. relating she was traveling to College Hill in Beaver Falls with the known male and two unknown males. Riverside Lions Club Continues The Good Deeds

The Riverside Lions Club made its presence known in the local community with several good deeds over the past several weeks. The club volunteered to ring the bell to help the Salvation Army collect donations at the Franklin Giant Eagle, on Friday December 17. Volunteers covered the shifts from 10 am until 6 pm. This is the second year the club has volunteered to help with this event with the intent of keeping most of the money local according to King Lion, Chip Campbell. Borough Of Ellwood City Announces Board Vacancies

The Borough of Ellwood City has announced the following on the Boards and Commissions of the Ellwood City Borough. The vacancies are as follows: Zoning Hearing Board Alternate, Planning Commission, and Civil Service Commission Alternate. Any Borough resident interested in serving on any of the above positions is asked to submit a letter of interest to the Borough Secretary at 525 Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City. Ellwood City Fire Chief Completes Top Tier Training

For the past 10 years, I have taken my United States Advanced Placement Government & Politics class to Philadelphia to hear oral argument at the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
