BodyShop To Host Jam-A-Thon: Hurricane Harvey Benefit Sept 14, 2017

Local fitness studio, BodyShop Group Fitness, will deviate from its normal schedule to host a special 3 hour hip hop inspired workout with the aim to help with the relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey. Two weeks ago, Texas was hit with unprecedented rainfall from Hurricane Harvey. While most of the immediate needs of food and water are being met, thousands of families are returning to find their homes nearly destroyed by the damage and practically uninhabitable. Little Beaver Historical Society Fall Festival

The Little Beaver Historical Society, located at 803 Plumb Street, Darlington PA., 16115, will be hosting a fall festival on September 9 and 10 from 9a.m. – 5p.m. All of the Society’s buildings including the Greersburg Academy, the Red Brick Museum the McCarl industrial museum, 1820’s log cabin and forge will be open during the festival and free to tour. Ellwood City Historical Society Annual Picnic

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will host its annual picnic beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 in Ewing Park’s shelter No. 8, which is located in the back loop of the park. The event is open to the public and those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share and their own table service. The society will furnish the meat, drinks and dessert. Labor Day, which often marks the end of summer for many outdoor activities such as public pools, is this Monday, September 4, 2017. Labor Day is a federal holiday which means federal buildings are closed including post offices and government buildings. Ellwood City’s sixteenth annual Story Telling Festival will be taking place Saturday, September 16 from 4p.m.-7:30p.m. at Ewing Park. The event is free to attend. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: The library will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday. Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. would like to invite all area seniors and their families to attend his free Senior Expo on Friday, September 15 at the Cascade Park Pavilion, 1928 E. Washington St, New Castle.
