Riverside Girls Basketball Ready To Ball With First-Year Head Coach

The Riverside Lady Panthers will travel to face Mohawk on Monday, January 11th before settling in to its first home game on Thursday, January 14th versus the Laurel Spartans.  The team will welcome the long overdue season and begin with new faces, players and coach, on the bench. “We lost a lot of scoring due to graduation, so we will need players to step up into the role of scoring production,” said first year head coach Renee Drake. After cancellations of tournaments and play in December due to COVID-19, the Wolverines boys and girls basketball teams will finally get a chance to hit the parque floors in January as schedules have been re-released.  Both teams will host home games to start the season, the boys will face Neshannock on Friday, January 8th while the girls open up with a home game on Monday, January 11th versus North Catholic. Bernstine Announces Funding for Police Body Cameras In New Brighton Borough

NEW BRIGHTON – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Lawrence/Butler) today announced that New Brighton Borough will receive $15,610 in funding from a federal program that offers grants to purchase camera systems, data storage and other costs relating to implementation or expansion of body-worn camera (BWC) systems for law enforcement and corrections institutions in Pennsylvania. Christmas Tree Disposal Information

With the Christmas season winding down, the once lively trees that brought joy and light up our homes are dying and needles are rapidly covering homes. According to a release made available Monday, Ellwood City Borough residents may drop off their live Christmas trees (decorations removed) for disposal at Stiefel Park, just inside the park entrance from Brighton Road, now through January 31.  There will be a sign to mark the disposal drop location.  Drop off will be available during normal hours the park is open to the public. Inspections Continue To Close Restaurants For Not Following COVID-19 Guidelines

PA Department of Agriculture inspectors closed 33 restaurants statewide by order after confirming that each was open for dine-in service and refused to comply with the order while the inspector was present. On Tuesday, the Department of Agriculture released data related to COVID-19 restaurant enforcement actions from December 21 through December 27, 2020. The department’s Bureau of Food Safety performed 381 inspections, 54 of which were complaint-driven. Of those, 50 were COVID-19 specific complaints. The department received 42 food facility COVID-19 related complaints, and 20 of those COVID-19 related complaints were referred to local and county health jurisdictions. Of the…


Local Projects Receive State Grants Totaling $6 Million

Projects in the 47th Senatorial District were recently awarded state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants totaling $6 million according to Senator Elder Vogel. Stefanik Properties LLC, was awarded $2 million for the proposed development of the Stafanik Industrial Park on an 18-acre site in Center Township, Beaver County. The project includes the proposed construction of two buildings and the development of infrastructure to support the site. $1 Million Grant Will Fund New Training Center For Electrical Trade In Lawrence County

NEW CASTLE – A $1 million grant from the state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program will fund a state-of-the-art electrical apprenticeship training center for Lawrence County, state Rep. Chris Sainato, D-Lawrence, announced today.
