BC3 Expands College Within The High School Progam

(Butler, PA) Eligible sophomores through seniors from any high school this fall can earn affordable, transferrable college credits through remote-instruction courses offered by a Butler County Community College program. BC3’s College Within the High School program will offer five three-credit courses during afternoons and evenings. College algebra, college writing, general psychology, intermediate algebra and productivity applications can be taken by “any student, anywhere,” said Erin Cioffi, BC3’s assistant director of high school programming. “Friends Of The Park” Help Fix Up Wampum Community Park

Wampum Park is a local park that over the years had began to get run down and was in need of repairs and updates and when Karen Goebel saw this, she knew someone needed to do something. So she did it. Goebel. a local of the area, talked with the borough in the fall of 2020 and asked if there was anything they could do to help. After a rain cancellation caused Lincoln High School to move their graduation day, the Class of 2021 finally got to accept their diplomas. The Class of 2021, along with friends and family, all gathered together on Monday at Helling Stadium to see the students receive their diplomas. Even though the rain was still there on the big day, that didn’t stop the graduates from walking across the stage and getting the diplomas that they all worked so hard for. Ellwood City Man Sustains Injuries In Motorcycle Accident

PA State Police in New Castle responded to a motorcycle accident in Wayne Township on Sunday, June 6th on Wampum Road around 11:30 p.m. The officers responded to an accident in which a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle had struck a guardrail on the right side of the roadway on Wampum Road. According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle, driven by 65 year old Keith Shaffer of Ellwood City, was traveling east on Wampum Road when he went off the roadway to the right, struck a residence sign, and then struck a guardrail with a mailbox fixed behind it. A walk-off single propelled Punxatawney to a 4-3 ten-inning victory over WPIAL runner-up Ellwood City in the opening round of the PIAA Class 3A softball playoffs Monday afternoon at Heindl Field in DuBois. Lincoln High Senior Receives The Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship

Emily Borroni, a senior at Lincoln High School was awarded the Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship on May 24th at the organization’s monthly meeting. Emily, the daughter of Jeff and Stephanie Borroni of Ellwood City, was presented with the award by President John Pansera. The $1,000.00 scholarship is presented to a graduation senior and member of the parish who provides superior service to her parish, community and school. Petrak Among Twelve Ohio State Swimmers Taking Part In Olympic Trials

Taylor Petrak is among 12 Ohio State University men’s and women’s swimmers that will be competing this weekend, June 4-7, in Omaha, Neb., during Wave I competition. The trials are being held at the CHI Health Center, in Omaha. Petrak, a 5’8″ Buckeye Senior, will compete in the 50-yard freestyle.  The Ellwood native is the daughter of Patti and Jay Petrak. The trials are being split into a Wave I and a Wave II trials this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to USA Swimming.
