Butler, PA — Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the Spring 2021 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. Students who have achieved a cumulative GPA (grade-point average) of 3.75 or higher are named to the President’s List following completion of at least 12 semester hours or upon completion of degree requirements. Ellwood City Man Among Two County Residents Indicted on Child Sexual Exploitation Charges

PITTSBURGH, PA – Two Lawrence County residents have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of attempted production, production, receipt, and distribution of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a child, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced today. The three-count Indictment named David Bates, 61, of Ellwood City, PA 16117, and Tamara Kreitzer, 33, of New Castle, PA 16101, as defendants. New Day Care Center To Open In Ellwood

With COVID restrictions beginning to be lifted, more and more people are starting to head back to in person work. A lot of working class people have children at home to worry about and some don’t always have people to rely on for child care. This problem is something that Mary O’Connor Bailey thought about when she decided to bring O’Connor’s Day Care to Ellwood City. Ellwood City Locals To Play In Summer Concert

The Summer Concert Live season will be one of the first larger events to be held in downtown New Castle after the lifting of many COVID restrictions. With the concert series kicking off Friday, June 25th with New Castle’s ‘The Dorals’, a six-piece band performing music from the Baby Boomer generation, showcasing their talents. Their performance will be accompanied by a Classic Car Show, hosted by the Rapid Tappets Car Club. ‘Operation Adopt a Block’ Seeking Volunteers for June 26 Cleanup

Operation Adopt a Block will be in full force tomorrow as local leaders, officials, and residents gather to clean up Ellwood City. Justin Neupauer, owner of Alborn Tire Sales and leader of the event, said he is expecting about 50 volunteers but more are always welcome. “I am always shocked by the response of people who are willing to take time out of their day to volunteer,” he said. Ellwood City Area School District Students to Begin Fall Classes Mask-Free

Following more than a year of ups and downs, uncertainty, masks and social distancing, Ellwood City Area School District plans to begin the 2021-2022 school year on a normal note. During Thursday’s Special Meeting of the Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors, District Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley announced that the district’s ARP ESSER Health and Safety plan will not include masks for back to school. Ellwood City will be one of over 100 virtual locations to take place in the largest virtual game of catch next Wednesday June 30th.
