29th Annual Lawrence County Polish Day Planned In September

The 29th Annual Lawrence County Polish Day will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Cascade Park Pavilion located at 1928 E. Washington Street New Castle, PA. Entertainment will be provided by John Gora and Gorale (Canada) and Polish New Castle Radio.  Doors and kitchen open at noon. Polish food prepared by Krakus Deli of Boardman, Ohio with wine tasting by Novosel Wineries. Bernstine Announces Work to Begin to Restore Hereford Manor Lake

FRANKLIN TWP. – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced today that the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will move forward immediately with the initial geotechnical study to restore Hereford Manor Lake, which was drained in 2012. Bernstine has secured $150,000 for the study, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Hereford Manor consisted of two popular lakes that were formed by dams created from old strip mine materials in the 1950s. These dams were considered high-hazard, unsafe and were eventually removed. The sign “Welcome Class of ’54’ Celebrating 65 years” in blue and white decorations greeted arrivals at the Connoquenessing Country Club for the “Picnic on the Patio” event on Saturday, August 17. Class members and guests were greeted by Ilene Gardner, Pudue LaCava, Herman D’Amico and James Gillespie at the registration desk. This year, Lincoln High graduate Nick Ioanilli will wrap up a stellar career at Colgate University where he won many awards both on and off the field. In 2018, Nick was chosen All-Patriot League Second Team, Defensive Player of the Week and was named to both the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the Colgate Raider Academic Honor Roll. Nick had three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown during the 2018 season. One of Nick’s best games was against Cornell where he had a career-high 11 tackles. The Knights of Columbus Council 604 and the Wampum Chapter of the North Country Trail Association are joining together for its 5th Hike on the North Country Trail to raise funds for the benefit of McGuire Memorial and St. Anthony School Programs. WASHINGTON – Pennsylvania businesses and residents affected by flash flooding on July 21-22, 2019 can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, Acting Administrator Christopher Pilkerton announced Friday. Acting Administrator Pilkerton made the loans available in response to a letter from Pennsylvania’s Gov. Tom Wolf on July 31, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA.
