Lawrence County Announces Road/Bridge Improvement Grants

The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners has announced $313,380.50 in grant funding for municipal road and bridge improvements in five local municipalities, including Ellwood City and Wayne Township. Those municipalities, the amounts the county is giving them and their projects are: Ellwood City Borough, $15,900, to go toward concrete replacement on Sixth Street. New Beaver Borough, $69,000, for culvert repair and replacement on McBride Road. Wilmington Township, $46,137, for paving of Beechwood Road. POLICE: Fatal Motorcycle Accident On Route 65

According to a Pennsylvania State police report, a man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m. on PA Route 65 (Ellwood Road) near Hogue Road in Slippery Rock Township. Through evidence located at the scene, David Sedgwick, 43, of Ellwood City, was traveling southbound on Ellwood Road when an oncoming vehicle was attempting to turn left from a private driveway located on the west side of the roadway. New Castle Man Arrested In Child-Trafficking Sting Operation

A 33-year-old New Castle man is among several arrested this week in what Ohio law enforcement officials are calling “the largest anti-human trafficking bust” in state history. Jarod Mills, 33, of New Castle, is charged with felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, felony importuning or soliciting of an adolescent, felony possessing criminal tools, and felony displaying matter harmful to juveniles.
