Franklin Township Looking To Hire Police Chief

Franklin Township is currently accepting applications to fill the position of a full-time Police Chief. According to the township, it is recommended that applicants have 10 years or more of continuous experience in law enforcement and 5 years or more of continuous experience as a Second Line Supervisor, and an associate degree or better in Police Science or related field of experiences which demonstrate police management. Candidates must possess a PA Act 120 Certification, valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operators License, and be certified by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission. Wolves Club Presents Oktoberfest Donations

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den 11 met on Wednesday, November 8th at the Connequenessing Country Club. During the meeting the recent Oktoberfest was reported on by Chairman Dennis Boariu. The Club provided a donation of $2,000.00 from the Oktoberfest proceeds to the Ellwood City Volunteer Fire Department for their Advance Life Support (ALS) Unit. The Wolves Club also provided donations from the Oktoberfest proceeds to the Ellwood City Lions and Ellwood City Rotary. Each club was represented at the Oktoberfest. Milestone Birthdays Celebrated

Celebrating their 85th and 90th birthdays this year, Dona and Don Boots, Sr. of North Sewickley Township attribute their good health and long lives to staying active and trusting in the Lord, thanking Him daily for His goodness over their lives. They met as teenagers in the Rustic Park area of North Sewickley township and have lived in the same area since their marriage in 1956, celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary this year. Chewton VFD Ladies Auxiliary Celebrates 70 Years of Community Service

The Chewton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary celebrated a milestone this year, 70 years of community service, with a dinner honoring the three surviving charter members, Barbara Barr, Lois Chappell, and Frances Sbarro. Beginning on October 20th 1953, by a group of women, some who were the wives of firemen, knew there was a need for their department and community and came together to do their part to help the department and the purpose they served through financial and moral support. Special Activities Group of the Holy Redeemer Church Celebrates 60th Anniversary

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, members of the Special Activities Group of the Holy Redeemer Church met to celebrate their 60th Anniversary. Fifty four members and their guests were present and enjoyed a meal of chicken marsala, beef tips, meatballs and pasta. John Biondi presented a history of the Special Activities Group (fondly called SAG). The Group was created in 1963 by parishioners who wanted to assist in funding non-budgeted items the school and church would need during a year.
