October Studios Hosting An Upcoming ‘Battle Of The Bands’

October Studios, a full-service recording studio located in Ellwood City, is hosting an upcoming ‘Battle of the Bands’ event with a chance for participating bands to win some serious cash. The live music event will be held at local entertainment/sports lounge, The Tee Box, on Saturday, February 26th beginning at 8:00 p.m. The event is for ages 21 and over. Wolverine Wrestling Wraps Up Regular Season, Senior Night

The Ellwood City Wrestling team wrapped up its regular season this week with two matches, including their senior night on Wednesday evening. The team was defeated by Sharon 45-30 at home Wednesday and also fell to Slippery Rock 34-30 on the road Thursday. Lady Wolverines Defeat Rival Riverside On Senior Night

Five Ellwood City seniors were recognized prior to Thursday Night’s rivalry game versus Riverside. The Lady Wolverines proceeded to defeat the visiting Panthers 49-18. Three players paced Ellwood City in double figures led by sophomore Claire Noble and her game-high 16 points.  Seniors Kyla Servick (14 points) and Emily Sedgwick (10 points) helped the Wolverines to victory. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

SIMPLE ASSAULT: Nicholas Kinnear, 35, of Ellwood City, is charged with Simple Assault and Harassment after an incident on January 31. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Spring Avenue for a domestic. Police were met outside by a female victim who related that Kinnear had became angry and accosted the victim resulting in marks and bruising. Ellwood City remained unbeaten in section play, one night after clinching an outright section championship, with a 65-52 victory over Beaver Falls on Tuesday. Roth Nets 1,000th Career Point, Wolverines Clinch First-Ever Section Championship

Two records were set Tuesday night at Mohawk when the Ellwood City Wolverines defeated the host Warriors 57-31. First, in the second quarter, Alexander Roth connected on the first of his two free throw attempts to earn his 1,000th career point. The senior scored 19 of his team-high 20 points (two 3-pointers, four rebounds) in the first half to help the Wolverines gain a 36-14 halftime advantage.
