Theft

  • An Ellport woman stole over $65,000 from her mother, according to police reports. On September 10, 2015, Jeanette Mathas, of Ellport, reported a theft from her house. Mathas stated that she had been in the hospital for the past two months. When she returned, she found that approximately $65,000 she had hidden was missing. Mathas stated that her daughter, Brenda Anthony, was the only person with access to the house. A witness provided pictures of Anthony with the money. Another witness reported that Anthony had recently bought all new furniture for the house she was residing in. On September 14, Anthony informed officers that she had taken $23,000 and that she had spent approximately $9700 on furniture because her mother was supposed to move in with her after she left the hospital. Anthony stated that she did not know what happened to the rest of the money. According to a criminal complaint filed on October 14, Anthony was accused of theft and receiving stolen property.

Simple Assault

According to the police report, Kristen Leigh Shutack reported she had gotten into a verbal argument with her fiance, John Metro Krensiky, around noon. She threw a beer can toward Krensiky’s truck, and Krensiky walked over and punched Shutack in the face. Later, around 9:45 p.m., Kresiky returned to Shutack’s residence and threatened to “blow her head off.” Officers arrested Krensiky, and he was charged with harassment, simple assault, and terroristic threats.
