Junior High Softball Team Finishes Season with Four Consecutive Wins

For the second straight game, the Lady Wolverines won a game with a walk off hit. In Thursday night’s season finale, Sydni Haswell was the hero. She laced a line shot up the middle to score Taylor Covert and Maura Agostinelli as the team defeated Hampton in dramatic fashion by a score of 7-6.

After a shaky defensive start that spotted Hampton a 6-1 lead after just two innings, the team regained their focus and outscored the Talbots 6-0 over the final five frames.

In addition to Haswell’s heroics, Isabella Roth and Taylor Covert each had two singles. Covert scored twice while Roth scored once. Slick fielding Stormy Fiello tripled while Maura Agostinelli and winning pitcher Madi Krugh each added singles to the eight hit attack. Maria Ioanilli and Chloe Sturgeon each had RBI’s. Sarah Boots, Agostinelli, Ioanilli and Fiello all scored once in the well balanced offensive attack.

Krugh was solid in the circle as she tossed a complete game four hitter. She fanned eight and issued just three walks while shutting out the Talbots over the final five innings.
