Frederick D. “Buz” Stelter, 86

Frederick D. “Buz” Stelter, 86, of Boyd School Rd., Wampum (Shenango Twp.) passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital following an extended illness.

Born April 13, 1931 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Virginia Bowden Stelter. He was married for 64 years to Florence “Allie” Alden Stelter as they were married February 26, 1953. She survives.

Fred graduated from Shenango High School. He served in the Army from 1952-1954 being stationed in Korea for thirteen months. He retired in 1993 from Penn Power where he was the Yard Supervisor. He was an active member of the Independent Methodist Church having served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the President of the Church Council, and most recently President and Chairman Emeritus of both. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Fred enjoyed spending time at his camp that he built in Neiltown, Forest County. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Canada.

in addition to his wife, Allie, survivors include two sons, Fred D. (Lisa) Stelter Jr. of Wampum, James Daniel (Cecile) Stelter of Titusville; sister, Dolores Cox of Pulaski; sister in law, Judy Stelter of Wampum; and his granddaughter, Holly Stelter of Cleveland, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Ronald Stelter.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday November 12 from 4-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday at the Independent Methodist Church at 11:00 am with his pastor, Rev. Frederick Gilbert officiating. Military rites will be offered by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.

Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
